Associate Medical Director

Staten Island University Hospital - Northwell Health is seeking a physician leader to serve as the Associate Chair and Medical Director of the Inpatient Rehab Facility (IRF). This role involves managing and directing PM&R services, providing direct patient care to IRF inpatients, and ensuring regulatory adherence. The ideal candidate will offer strategic leadership, oversee day-to-day operations, and drive quality improvement initiatives within the IRF.Practice InfoThe 16-bed IRF is located at the 17-acre North campus of Staten Island University Hospital.Staten Island University Hospital is a 668-bed tertiary teaching hospital spanning two campuses.Physicians will be employed as members of Northwell Physician Partners.ResponsibilitiesAssist in managing and directing all PM&R services for SIUH.Provide direct patient care to inpatients admitted to the IRF.Provide oversight and adherence to pertinent regulatory requirements, including federal and state agencies.Encourage academic research activities within the department.Help set overall goals of the department.Oversee the day-to-day operations and overall success of the program.Responsible for performance improvement and quality improvement initiatives, presenting outcomes and progress at hospital forums and committee meetings.Support CARF accreditation efforts and foster strong interdisciplinary collaboration with therapy services, medical and surgical specialties, case management, social work, and other ancillary partners.CompensationSign-On Bonus.Competitive salary and benefits package.Full-time clinical base compensation at Northwell Health ranges from $125,000 to $750,000.An academic appointment with The Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell is commensurate with credentials and experience.BenefitsEligible employees will receive 100% employer-paid tuition expenses towards a master's degree from Hofstra University.Those attending another university will receive $5,000 annually in reimbursement toward qualified tuition expenses.Northwell Health is a nonprofit, making us a qualifier for the Public Service Loan Forgiveness program (PSLF) under federal student aid.RequirementsM.D. Degree or equivalent from an accredited College of Medicine.Board Certification in PM&R.Currently licensed as a physician in the State of New York.Experience in directorship of an IRF and PM&R clinical and/or teaching program, preferably in a major medical center or health system.Outstanding communication and management skills, and an ability to work collaboratively with medical staff, hospital management, and staff.Must possess recent experience in managing IRF patients employing generally accepted and currently used methods and techniques.
