Senior FPGA Firmware Engineer

Salary: $229,000 - 269,000 per year Requirements:

• We require a bachelors degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical and Computer Engineering, or a comparable engineering or technical bachelors degree, along with 7+ years of relevant experience.
• We are looking for prior technical leadership experience.
• We need experience in FPGA architecture and design, including hands-on knowledge of AMD/Xilinx and/or Altera FPGA devices and their associated application environments.
• We expect experience with complex mixed-signal digital board design in support of FPGAs.
• We are looking for the ability to implement designs independently with minimal direction.
• We value the capability to develop technical solutions to complex problems using ingenuity and creativity in FPGA and/or board design.
• We require working knowledge of digital signal processing functions.
• We need the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship.
• Preferred qualifications include strong digital signal processing knowledge, especially for radar and electronic warfare systems, including digital receivers and exciters.
• Preferred experience includes extensive VHDL firmware programming on FPGA devices such as Xilinx, Intel, or Microsemi.
• Familiarity with Xilinx Vivado, Intel Quartus, or Microsemi Libero for building and testing hardware implementations is preferred.
• Experience with Mentor Questa HDL simulation and UVM verification techniques is preferred.
• MATLAB modeling experience is a plus.
• Experience with higher-level development tools and languages such as Nvidia CUDA, OpenCL, Simulink HDL Coder, and Xilinx System Generator is a plus.
• We are looking for excellent oral, written, and presentation skills.
• We value the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently and guide major programs to completion, with potential for project leadership.
• We seek someone who can exercise significant discretion in defining technical objectives using technologies such as FPGAs, microprocessors, DSPs, and interface controllers.

• We design, develop, verify, and document ASIC and FPGA solutions.
• We determine architecture, logic design, and system simulation approaches.
• We perform complex FPGA firmware architecture work and custom digital board design.
• We design digital signal processing, messaging, control, and high-speed communications functionality.
• We collaborate regularly with program leadership and teammates.
• We estimate, decompose, and plan work for the firmware team.
• We break high-level DSP algorithms for radar systems into smaller work items and coach junior engineers.
• We analyze design requirements from high-level concepts through synthesis, place and route, timing, and power utilization.
• We may use specialized equipment to gather operational data, run experimental tests, and evaluate results.
