Field Service Technician

Core Responsibilities Perform routine inspections, preventative maintenance and servicing as directed on Godwin fleet equipment between each rental. Troubleshoot diesel engine, electrical systems and pump problems. Rebuild diesel engines and pump ends. Assist customer and/or Xylem personnel with setting up pumping systems on customer job sites as needed; assist in start‑up duties and ensure any problems are resolved. Perform an initial inspection of Godwin fleet equipment for possible damages, diagnose damages, and report damages to the Service Manager. Test all repaired equipment for proper operation and quality. Perform preventative maintenance on company vehicles and shop support equipment. Perform diagnostic checks using computer technology. Participate in a weekly on‑call rotation schedule to assist customers after hours. Perform related duties as assigned. Participation in Xylem Watermark volunteer activities. Minimum Qualifications 3–5 years of diesel experience and/or training, or a combination of education, training and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position. Valid driver’s license with a good driving record. Ability to obtain a DOT Medical card. Commercial Driver License B – Preferred. Ability to obtain required customer clearances (e.g., TWIC, DISA) if applicable. Diagnosing basic mechanical problems. Thorough understanding of the methods, materials, tools and techniques used in equipment repair and maintenance. Basic understanding of pump station electrical controls and monitoring devices. General DC electric and circuit testing skills. General diesel engine component location and identification skills. Knowledge of safety practices and procedures. Basic mechanical aptitude. Ability to diagnose complex mechanical and electrical issues – preferred. Ability to work independently with little or no supervision; self‑motivated and self‑directed. Ability to communicate effectively with customers, co‑workers and managers both verbally and in writing. Day In The Life The working environment may be frequently outdoors with exposure to weather extremes, use of PPE, hazardous material, and loud noise. Physical demands include regular sitting and standing, as well as lifting up to 50 lbs. The role may require frequent travel to customer sites and on‑call duty as part of the job. Standard weekly job hours: 40hours. Employees must be able to perform the essential functions of the position satisfactorily.
