Medical Assistant - CMA / MA

Job Description

Job Summary:
Provides clinical and administrative support in a healthcare setting, ensuring smooth patient flow and efficient office operations. Performs a variety of patient care, clerical, and procedural tasks to assist physicians and support staff.

Responsibilities:

• Perform venipuncture, EKGs, and collect specimens for testing.
• Assist physicians with procedures, take vital signs, and relay instructions to patients and families.
• Manage patient scheduling, registration, and update demographic and insurance information.
• Prepare examination rooms, sterilize instruments, and restock medical supplies according to infection control policies.
• Enter orders into electronic medical records (EMR) and handle prescription refill requests for physician review.
• Maintain and organize medical charts, test results, and other documentation.

Qualifications:

• Possess a Medical Assistant certificate from an accredited program.
• Hold a valid BLS certification issued by the AHA.
• Demonstrate effective communication skills with diverse patient populations.
• Proficient in medical terminology and HIPAA guidelines.
• Experienced with EMR systems is preferred but not required.
• High school diploma or GED required.
