A4 is a 31-bed pre and post-op inpatient surgical unit dedicated to providing the highest quality of care. Our team is comprised of new graduate and experienced nurses, nursing leaders and healthcare professionals who thrive in a fast-paced, supportive environment. Our unit consists of patients recovering from general surgical to state-of-the-art orthopedic, bariatric, GI, Women’s Health and medical patients. JOB SUMMARY

Demonstrates clinical competence through utilization of the nursing process and development of a synergistic nurse-patient relationship. Assesses and identifies patient problems/needs, establishes a plan of care, implements and evaluates care provided to patients. Qualifications Graduate of a school of Nursing. BSN preferred One (1) year RN experience and/or successful completion of the Backus Hospital Nurse Residency Program. Current unrestricted license in good standing to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Connecticut. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) upon hire. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification preferred

Basic knowledge of Nursing principles and practices. Ability to read and understand oral and written instructions. Communicates effectively in order to provide technical or complex information as well as instruction. Excellent interpersonal skills necessary to communicate with departments, employees, physicians, managers and patients. Ability to handle multiple priorities, be flexible and a team player. Ability to work in a stressful environment. Commitment to customer service. Basic computer knowledge in order to enter/retrieve data. Requires high level of analytical ability in order to gather and interpret information from various sources.
