Adjunct - Communications

Overview The Communications Adjunct will develop and adapt the standard syllabus, content, and activities in conjunction with current COMM instructors under the direction of the Liberal Arts Program Coordinator. The adjunct will be available to teach on‑campus COMM courses at the Headquarters or Tech Center campus as needed based on enrollment, including at least one in‑person section of COMM 202 Fundamentals of Speech for high school dual‑enrolled students in Fall 2026. The adjunct will also teach face‑to‑face daytime and/or evening COMM courses at the BRCTC Headquarters and/or Tech Center campus as needed. Responsibilities Develop and adapt the standard syllabus, content, and activities in partnership with current COMM instructors. Be available to teach on‑campus COMM courses at the Headquarters or Tech Center campus as enrollment requires. Teach at least one in‑person section of COMM 202 Fundamentals of Speech for high school dual‑enrolled students in Fall 2026. Teach daytime and/or evening face‑to‑face COMM courses at the BRCTC Headquarters and/or Tech Center campus as needed. Education Candidate must have completed a Master’s Degree or higher in COMM or a closely related field and have completed 18 master’s level (or above) credits in COMM coursework. Experience Candidate must have at least two years of experience teaching at the high school or college level and be comfortable using course‑related and LMS technology. Preference will be given to applicants who have experience teaching professional communication or a similar course at the high school or college level and using an online learning management system, preferably Blackboard or Blackboard Ultra. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Candidate must be able to teach COMM concepts by establishing a sense of community with students, inspiring them to develop professional communication skills, responding to student requests for assistance in a timely manner (typically within 24 hours), and successfully navigating the online platform that complements the classroom experience. Benefits Adjunct pay is dependent on degree level.
