Foreman

The Commissioning Manager plays a pivotal role in managing and coordinating Level 2 through Level 5 commissioning activities for Coolant Distribution Units (CDUs) and associated cooling systems within mission-critical data center environments. As the onsite commissioning leader, the manager oversees commissioning technicians and collaborates closely with clients, equipment manufacturers, general contractors, commissioning authorities, and site operations teams to ensure safe, compliant, and successful system startup, testing, and turnover.

• Lead and coordinate pre-functional inspections, startup execution, functional and integrated systems testing.
• Resolve issues and manage documentation and project closeout.
• Follow diagrams, sketches, operation manuals, manufacturer's instructions, and engineering specifications.
• Troubleshoot malfunctions and comply with NEC standards on wiring and installations.
• Locate sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation and using precision measuring tools.
• Determine changes in dimensional requirements of parts using rules, calipers, micrometers, and other measuring instruments.
• Adjust functional parts of devices and control instruments using hand tools, levels, and alignment equipment.
• Control downtime by informing production workers of routine preventive maintenance techniques and monitoring compliance.
• Optimize maintenance resources by using equipment and supplies as needed.
• Maintain continuity among work teams by documenting actions and communicating irregularities.
• Manage communication plan protocols and reporting procedures, including daily and weekly communication, emails, virtual meetings, progress and issue logs.
• Maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
• Adhere to commissioning plan, manage schedule of commissioning activities integrated with project schedule.
• Verify proper installation of equipment and components.
• Confirm compliance with manufacturer specifications and industry standards.
• Conduct equipment startup checklists and verify proper startup procedures are followed.
• Document initial operating parameters and identify startup issues.
• Manage issue logs and conduct root cause analysis.
• Provide corrective action recommendations and review proposed corrective actions from contractors.
• Verify implemented solutions and conduct final system verification and documentation.

• Prior commissioning experience.
• Familiarity with the L2-L5 commissioning process.
• Troubleshooting and diagnostics skills.
• Industrial maintenance experience.
• Experience with Coolant Distribution Units (CDUs) and 3-phase motors.
• Ability to work with Microsoft Teams.
• Strong communication skills with general contractors and other site stakeholders.
• Experience in field service, construction, preventive maintenance, installation, and as a maintenance technician.

• Data center commissioning experience.
• Experience with cooling technologies such as CoolIT, Vertiv, Schneider Electric, or STULZ.
• OSHA 30 Certification.
• CPR/First Aid Certification.
• Commissioning, mechanical, electrical, or HVAC certifications.
• Experience supporting hyperscale data center projects.
• Certificate or diploma in a related field.
• Completion of an industrial apprenticeship program is a plus.
• Experience with industrial and mechanical systems, especially cooling systems.
• Construction site experience required, data center familiarity preferred.
• Thorough working knowledge of industrial and mechanical equipment usage and safety procedures.
• Self-motivated, responsible, and safety-oriented individual.
• Ability to apply standard tools and techniques to solve problems.
• Positive 'can-do' attitude.
• Capability to manage time and responsibilities independently.
• Contribute to team effort by accomplishing results and meeting expectations.
• Willingness to lead while working alongside direct reports.
• Flexible schedule, willing to work off hours and overtime depending on construction schedule.
• Experience managing and leading a team of 3 or more.
• Excellent communication skills in electronic/virtual, written, and in-person formats.

The work environment is primarily within data centers and construction sites, requiring long periods on foot and potentially long walks between data halls and buildings within large campuses. You will be working alongside many other subcontractors in this fast-paced and collaborative setting.

This is a Contract position based out of Bowling Green, OH.

The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $50.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
