About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Labor and Delivery Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 12 hours (07:00 - 19:30) Experience: 2 years License: Compact license accepted Certifications: BLS, FHM, NRP, AWHONN Intermediate, ACLS (preferred) Must-Have: Epic experience required Description: Reduced Non-Billable Orientation job with no hours of orientation. All facilities honor active compact licenses. Two years of experience required. First-time travelers are not accepted. Patient diagnoses include Labor and Preterm labor. The unit has 8 labor rooms and 4 triage rooms. Responsibilities include circulating, OB-GYN, Post-Op, Pre-Op, Scrubbing, and Low-Risk Antepartum. Special procedures include blood/blood products administration, cardioversion/defibrillation, and the use of cooling/warming blankets. Additional responsibilities include managing drains, administering epidural pumps, PCA pumps, and syringe pumps, as well as using wound vacs, heparin, insulin, and magnesium sulfate. Registered nurses will attend all deliveries, including high-risk deliveries, and assist with GYN surgeries. Skills required include administering anticoagulation therapy, pain assessment and management, and maintaining central lines (CVC/PICC). Experience in teaching hospitals is preferred. The nurse will triage obstetric patients and utilize IUPC (intrauterine pressure catheter) placement and calibration. Float to Post-Partum and NICU may be required based on skill set. The typical staffing ratio is 1:1 to 1:3. References covering 1 year in the last 3 years are required for compliance. Modules are non-billable and average around 16 hours, completed pre-start and annually. Interaction with interdisciplinary support is expected.
