This role follows Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SSOP) under the guidance of the sanitation and quality teams to support food safety programs, including USDA requirements, allergen control, and traceability. The Sanitation Associate uses cleaning chemicals and equipment safely, adheres to safety protocols, and ensures the facility consistently meets cleanliness and hygiene standards. 3rd shift - 9pm to 5:30am $21.50/hr START ASAP FOOD SANITATION Responsibilities Maintain all plant surfaces, production areas, and equipment in a clean, sanitary condition throughout the shift in accordance with GMP and SSOP protocols. Execute GMP and SSOP procedures, including USDA pre-operational inspections, to ensure equipment and facilities meet food safety and regulatory standards. Use, handle, and secure cleaning chemicals properly, following all safety guidelines and label instructions. Follow Lock-out/Tag-out (LOTO) and Injury and Illness Prevention Program (IIPP) safety procedures when cleaning or working around equipment. Complete sanitation logs, pest control records, and other required documentation accurately and on time. Prevent cross-contamination and water damage by following proper cleaning sequences, using appropriate tools, and managing water use effectively. Clean and sanitize restrooms, break rooms, trash areas, and other support spaces as assigned. Lead by example in adherence to uniform standards, personal hygiene, and safety compliance, including proper use of PPE and GMP attire. Assist in water conservation efforts and prepare equipment for production after sanitation is completed. Report equipment malfunctions, missing parts, or safety concerns promptly to the appropriate personnel. Operate cleaning equipment and tools such as hoses, scrubbers, and other sanitation devices safely and efficiently. Work closely with food processing areas to ensure cleaning and sanitizing activities support overall food safety and quality requirements. Read and complete sanitation records and cleaning schedules in alignment with quality assurance guidelines. Adapt to shift changes or schedule adjustments and maintain reliable attendance. Communicate clearly with supervisors and team members to coordinate tasks and ensure safe, efficient sanitation operations. Essential Skills Experience working with cleaning equipment and chemicals in a production or food manufacturing environment. Knowledge of food processing and food safety practices, including GMP and SSOP requirements. Experience working closely with food products and in food manufacturing or production sanitation. Ability to perform janitorial duties, general labor, and detailed sanitizing tasks in a fast-paced environment. Ability to lift up to 25 lbs continuously, 40 lbs frequently, and exert up to 50 lbs occasionally. Ability to stand, walk, and sit frequently, and to use hands and arms continuously for handling and reaching. Ability to climb and balance continuously and to stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl frequently. Comfort working in conditions that include extreme temperatures (approximately 35°ree;F–85°ree;F), wet floors, and exposure to sanitation water up to 150°ree;F. Comfort working near moving mechanical parts, with frequent vibration and moderate noise. Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to communicate clearly throughout the shift. Reliable, flexible, and able to work independently with excellent attendance. Comfortable working overnight shifts from 9:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m., Monday through Friday. Ability to read and interpret safety and procedure documents in English. Ability to read and complete sanitation records and cleaning schedules accurately. Strong time management skills and the ability to make sound decisions and use equipment effectively. Additional Skills & Qualifications Spanish language skills are a plus for reading and understanding documents or communicating with team members. Previous experience in janitorial, sanitation, or general labor roles within food manufacturing is highly beneficial. Demonstrated customer service mindset and positive attitude toward supporting production and quality teams. Comfort working under GMP guidelines, including wearing smocks, hair nets, and refraining from jewelry or makeup while on the production floor. Ability to adapt to changing priorities, shift adjustments, and evolving sanitation or safety requirements. Why Work Here? You will work near moving mechanical parts and experience frequent vibration and moderate noise levels. The shift runs overnight from 9:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m., Monday through Friday, and requires standing, walking, climbing, and performing physical tasks for extended periods. You must wear GMP-compliant personal protective equipment (PPE), including smocks, hair nets, and other required attire, and follow all uniform, hygiene, and safety standards at all times. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Irvine, CA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $21.50 - $21.50/hr.
