Must-Have:
All travelers must take and pass a cardiac rhythm exam.

Description:
The position is for a Registered Nurse specializing in Telemetry in a Float Pool setting.


The nurse will primarily float to several medical-surgical and telemetry units.


The most frequent units for floating will have varying bed capacities.

Nurse-to-patient ratios are typically 1:5-6 during both day and night shifts, with potential for up to 7 patients in some cases.


Common patient diagnoses include Congestive Heart Failure, pneumonia, Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease, and orthopedic conditions.


Experience with titrating drips is not required as nurses will not be expected to manage that.


There is a charge nurse present on every shift.


The charge nurse may take patient assignments during the night shift but not during the day shift.


Certified Nursing Assistants will assist on all units.


CPAP and BiPAP machines are available on the units, but respiratory therapists manage their use.


Nurses are expected to read and interpret telemetry strips.


The shift schedule is set for every other weekend.


Holidays will be worked into the schedule with all staff involved in the rotation.


Unit assignments will be communicated upon reporting for each shift.

Travelers will report to a designated office prior to the start of their shift for assignments.


Scrubs should be in royal blue color.


The nurse will receive 1-2 shifts of orientation with a preceptor in the department.


This role is essential for providing quality patient care in an acute care setting.
