Assistant Animal Control Officer

Position Overview This position reports to a supervisory official and assists the animal control officer in handling, capturing, and, when necessary, humanely managing wild and strayed domesticated animals and birds. The role includes caring for impounded animals, cleaning and maintaining the impounding facility, and performing related duties as required. Key Responsibilities Assist patrolling, capturing, and impounding stray animals, wild game, birds, and unlicensed dogs. Assist in caring and feeding of animals in the shelter, and observe their physical condition and behavior. Promote the adoption of animals and arrange for their spaying and neutering. Maintain essential records and files. Benefits Full Time: 40 hours per week, $57,402 annually, health benefits after 60 days, NJ PERS membership, paid leave, vacation, sick and administrative time. Part Time: $27.60 per hour, eligible for NJ State Retirement Program, paid leave, vacation, sick and administrative time.
