Clinical Nurse MedSurg PICU East Valley Campus Shift: Mon‑Fri, Sat, Sun (Days Vary), Shifts Vary, 12am‑12am Category: Nursing Posting #: 1026060 Employee Type: Varies Position Summary Posting Note: Join the founding team of Phoenix Children’s new East Valley Campus in our Med Surg/PICU (MOSU) unit. This 24‑bed pediatric inpatient unit will initially care for a primarily Med Surg and a lower acuity PICU patient population, with opportunities to support higher‑acuity patients as the campus grows. We are seeking experienced inpatient RNs (at least 1 year) who are passionate about pediatric care, adaptable to a dynamic environment, and excited to help build a new team and culture from the ground up. Peds experience is preferred. Must have a BLS and an active RN license in good standing. Nurses will receive extensive training and cross‑training in acute care, step‑down, and critical care concepts while supporting the future growth of pediatric services in the East Valley. Multiple FTE options are available, including .5, .6, .75, and .9 positions. All new hires will complete training at our Thomas Campus prior to transitioning to the East Valley location. New grads will not be considered. This position works in collaboration with the healthcare team, patient and family to promote patient health through delivery of professional nursing care appropriate to patients age and condition as documented in the nursing and medical plans of care in accordance with evidence‑based nursing and patient care practice standards and hospital goals, values and regulatory standards. Position Duties Complete nursing assessment of patient conditions consistent with age and condition, including physical, psychological, social, developmental, and educational factors, to determine initial level of compliance with treatment plan per policy and unit guidelines. Perform ongoing patient and family assessments and identify variations from diagnoses. Continuously evaluate patient responses to care, teaching, and discharge plans. Document patient progress in appropriate charts and share observations and assessment outcomes with healthcare team and families to ensure timely communication and understanding of patient health status, progress, and ongoing needs. Contribute to team effort by accomplishing required activities within established parameters to ensure compliance with all applicable medication, storage and documentation standards, regulations, and requirements. Provide orientation to the unit, hospital systems, and processes to patients and family members to ensure familiarity with unit’s policies and requirements. Supervise patient care activities of assigned team members and delegate activities appropriate to knowledge, skill, and competency. Provide timely feedback and review of care delivery to ensure maintenance of patient safety, infection control procedures, therapeutic environment, and team members’ performance level, maintaining confidentiality as appropriate. Work collaboratively with patient care team and family members to establish and implement plan of care to ensure coordination of activities and ongoing communication of patient health status. Participate in patient care rounds and patient care conferences as appropriate. Foster a positive learning environment by modeling best practices and patient‑centered care while providing guidance, training, and support to students and new employees through mentorship, clinical instruction, and knowledge sharing. Perform miscellaneous job‑related duties as requested. Bachelor’s degree in Nursing or currently enrolled in an RN to BSN program (preferred). Additional Requirements Current State of Arizona RN license or an RN license from a compact state with multistate privileges, or the ability to establish licensure according to Arizona law prior to start date. Current BLS certification for Healthcare Provider from the American Heart Association prior to start date.
