Equipment OperatorThis position is responsible for maintaining and operating equipment for utility project completion. Essential duties include operating, maintaining, and servicing equipment and vehicles as assigned, transporting equipment and material to and from job sites, utilizing proper equipment to perform duties such as pole-setting, hole-digging, tree-trimming and clearing rights of way, assisting line crews with the construction, maintenance and servicing of lines, poles, and cross-arms, loading and unloading materials, entering data into electronic systems, maintaining hour and travel logs, staying abreast of advances in technology, contacting various water departments, gas companies for location of lines, managing the work for digging operations, operating PEC vehicle(s) for business purposes in accordance with applicable Federal, State, and local law and PEC policies and procedures, maintaining driver eligibility through appropriate valid Texas Driver's License and driving record in accordance with PEC policy, maintaining the security of confidential information, staying abreast of changes in technology, demonstrating regular and prompt attendance, and performing other related duties as necessary or assigned.Supervisory and/or Leadership Responsibilities May be asked to be the leader of digging operations and supervise an assistant.Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Knowledge of using computer systems, which may include setting up and using hardware and software programs, entering data or processing information Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer service Skilled in time management Skilled in prioritizing and managing changing priorities Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing Ability to listen and understand information verbally and in writing Ability to anticipate, identify, analyze and resolve conflict and problems.Minimum Qualifications - (Education, Experience) High School Diploma Three years of heavy equipment training and related work experience Valid Texas Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) and Motor Vehicle Report that comply with PEC policy Physical Demands and Work Environment The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
