Inventory Control SpecialistThe candidate should have practical, hands-on experience in inventory, warehouse, materials, or distribution operations, with demonstrated ability in:Inventory Control Receiving, counting, organizing, and tracking inventoryMaintaining accurate inventory quantitiesPerforming cycle counts and investigating discrepanciesUnderstanding the importance of inventory accuracyIdentifying shortages, overages, damaged material, and inventory discrepanciesPick & Pack Experience picking material/products from inventory based on orders, work orders, or pick listsPacking and preparing material for shipment or deliveryVerifying quantities and part numbers before material leaves inventoryAbility to work accurately while maintaining reasonable productivityReturns / Material Coming Back from the Field Experience receiving products or materials back from customers, jobsites, technicians, drivers, or field personnelInspecting returned materialDetermining whether material is reusable, damaged, incomplete, or requires further dispositionProperly documenting returned materialReturn-to-Stock Experience putting returned or unused material back into inventoryVerifying the correct item and quantityReturning material to the proper inventory locationUpdating the inventory system so physical inventory matches system inventoryMaterials Management Systems Functional experience using an inventory, warehouse, ERP, WMS, or materials-management systemAbility to enter, retrieve, and update inventory informationComfortable learning a new inventory management systemUnderstanding that physical inventory and system inventory must remain synchronizedSpreadsheets / Computer Skills Basic-to-intermediate Microsoft Excel or similar spreadsheet experienceAbility to enter, sort, filter, and organize dataComfortable working with inventory lists and reportsAbility to identify discrepancies or unusual inventory informationPhysical / Operational Requirements Because this is a working inventory position, the candidate should be comfortable with:Working on their feet for extended periodsRepeated walking, bending, reaching, lifting, and moving materialWorking in a warehouse/fabrication environmentSafely handling a variety of materialsUsing pallet jacks, carts, forklifts, or similar material-handling equipment or be willing to learnWorking in an environment where priorities can change throughout the dayThe successful candidate needs to be:Detail-orientedOrganizedReliableAccountableComfortable working independentlyAble to follow established processesAble to recognize when something doesn't look rightWilling to ask questions rather than guessComfortable working with numbers and quantitiesAble to prioritize competing requestsAble to communicate effectively with warehouse, fabrication, purchasing, logistics, and field personnelComfortable working in a sometimes fast-paced environmentAble to stay focused when interrupted or priorities change
