Job Type: Full-time, Non-exempt Salary Range: $64,464.40 - $77,077 The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, OneLegacy considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions. Work Setting: In-person and Field Service Area Location: Orange, CA Travel: Travel required by personal auto or air to meeting sites and other locations Summary of Functions: The RCCN is responsible for assisting hospitals to identify and refer potential donors, gather and interpret medical information to aid in the determination of suitability for a potential donor, discuss the plan of care with the medical team, provide donor management goals to help preserve the opportunity for donation, facilitate completion and review of brain death notes, represent OneLegacy to the potential donor’s authorizing party and when appropriate, undertake registry notification or approach for donation authorization, and assist in the donation process occurring at a OneLegacy Recovery Center including transportation, logistics, documentation, donor care, and organ recovery. Duties & Responsibilities: Essential Job Functions Respond promptly and appropriately to potential donor referrals to assess suitability and enhance donation process. Establish and enhance relationships with hospital staff to increase referral activity. Introduce yourself to the referred patient’s bedside nurse and unit Charge Nurse to establish presence; when leaving, notify them, discuss plans and assessment, and inquire if additional support is needed. Collaborate with the Referral Triage Specialist, Referral-Supervisor of Organ Procurement, and/or the Medical Director of Referral Management to manage all active referrals. Access and review the referring hospital’s medical records and populate the Electronic Medical Records system per OneLegacy policy. Discuss medical derangements, organ function and current clinical plan with hospital staff; formulate treatment plans under direction of the Medical Director and collaborate on interventions to optimize organ function. Communicate effectively with hospital staff regarding progression of active referrals. Review medico-legal documentation pertaining to brain death declaration for accuracy and completeness, following hospital policy, California Health and Safety code and 2010 AAN Guidelines; provide direction for revisions and forward documentation to RTS for verification. Perform Referral Intake Triage (RIT) by answering calls, triaging referrals and charting in EMR with RTS. Review Not Brain Dead (NBD) status board at hospitals with active referrals. Conduct site visits on NBD referrals and chart in EMR. Identify the Authorizing Party and language requirements; document family dynamics and related information for approach preparation. Collaborate with the care team and internal partners in end‑of‑life discussion to present donation opportunity. Work with clinical donor management team during donation process to facilitate orders to bedside nurse or physician. Perform additional tasks such as coroner notification/release; request on‑hold blood sample for coroner, height and weight verification; upload patient records to digitalDONOR while charting in EMR. Referral Management Precepting Serve as a trainer for new hire RCCs per Referral Management Leadership and Education teams. Collaborate with Leadership to monitor and maintain staff training logs/forms; utilize training tools provided. Job Qualifications and Requirements Education: EMT, Paramedic or LVN license required. Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred. Experience: Required work experience in the medical field/medical terminology. Certification/License: Current California driver’s license and auto insurance meeting California minimal coverage standards; reliable automotive transportation required. Other: Ability to work in a fast‑paced, emergency environment; strong communication and interpersonal skills; attention to detail.
