Law Clerk II - Supervisor

Job Overview The Supervisory Law Clerk serves as the main point-of-contact for contractor personnel and Government personnel. They perform work related to their labor categories, assign all contractor taskings, manage the time of subordinate staff, and communicate these details to the Government POC. The role also includes responsibilities defined in the Law Clerk II positions and collaboration with AUSAs and supervisory attorneys to determine statutory and regulatory law, identify defenses, violations, or causes of action. Responsibilities Manage the time of subordinate staff, including leave, personal days, and administrative absences. Assign contractor taskings and oversee the completion of Law Clerk II work. Identify applicable administrative statutory and regulatory law; determine possible defenses, violations, or causes of action. Develop understanding of all applicable federal, state, or local laws and stay abreast of new criminal and civil rules and procedures. Alert Attorney Advisors to all potential issues while conducting reviews and analyzing data related to programs and casework. Oversee practice in immigration, civil, criminal, violent crime, fraud, human trafficking, drug, and other program areas, including receiving and docketing, calendaring, and tracking due dates. Contact appropriate Attorney Advisor or support staff to locate relevant files, data, and other case or program information. Assess and analyze relevant data and prepare written work products, legal memoranda, briefs, or other draft responses for review. Analyze statutes, legislative intent, judicial precedents, agency rules, regulations, and law review articles for complex or unprecedented assignments. Brief attorneys on pertinent facts, issues, and case law. Draft correspondence and legal documents for attorney signature. Assess policy, program, and legislative initiatives to determine applicability and provide written analysis with recommendations. Assist in reviewing, supporting, and implementing policy and guidelines for USAOs and EOUSA programs. Qualifications U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain MRPT facility credentials and authorization. Licensed by a state bar. Valid state driver’s license. Minimum two (2) years of professional work experience. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications. Ability to make responsible decisions on short notice and adapt to unexpected developments. Physically located within the general geographic commuting radius of the USAO office. Experience and expertise in performing the services described in this position. Compensation Hourly rate: $46.90. This is an hourly, overtime‐eligible position subject to the Service Contract Act. Employees earn health and welfare dollars per eligible hour, which can be cashed out with a one‐pay‐period lag after applicable deductions.
