Sr. Electrical Motor Winder/Quality Assurance

Job Title: Sr. Electrical Motor Winder/Quality Assurance Department: Motor Repair Reports To: Repair Shop Manager Location: Memphis, TN Normal Working Hours : Day shift with overtime, on-call, and emergency coverage Position Summary The Sr. Electrical Motor Winder is responsible for disassembling, inspecting, rewinding, repairing, and testing AC and DC electric motors, generators, pumps, and related rotating equipment. This position requires a skilled technician with a minimum of ten (10) years of motor winding experience, strong troubleshooting abilities, and a commitment to quality, safety, and customer satisfaction. Will also be required to review other work for quality purposes, to ensure the highest level of quality is being delivered to our customers. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Disassemble, inspect, and evaluate electric motors and rotating equipment for repair. Remove damaged windings and prepare stators, rotors, and armatures for rewinding. Perform winding, insulating, lacing, and varnishing of AC and DC motors according to specifications. Interpret motor winding data, blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings. Rewind single-phase, three-phase, and specialty motors while maintaining original equipment specifications. Conduct electrical testing, including surge testing, resistance testing, hipot testing, and continuity verification. Operate bake ovens, burn-out ovens, winding equipment, balancing equipment, and other shop tools safely. Troubleshoot motor failures and identify root causes of electrical and mechanical issues. Document repair activities, measurements, test results, and materials used. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment. Follow all company safety policies and OSHA requirements. Assist with training and mentoring less experienced technicians as needed. Support shop operations by assisting with mechanical repairs, assembly, and other related duties. Qualifications Required Minimum of 10 rewinding and repairing electric motors or completing a technical school related to duties or responsibilities. Strong understanding of AC/DC motor theory and winding principles. Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and technical drawings. Experience using electrical testing equipment and diagnostic tools. Ability to identify winding patterns, coils, and connection diagrams. Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship. Ability to lift up to 70 pounds and work in a shop environment. Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record. Preferred Technical certification in electrical technology, industrial maintenance, or a related field. Experience with generators, pumps, gearboxes, and other rotating equipment. Familiarity with EASA repair standards. Forklift and overhead crane experience. Valid driver’s license/good driving record Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Electrical troubleshooting and repair expertise. Strong mechanical aptitude. Commitment to workplace safety and continuous improvement. Physical Requirements Frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and reaching. Ability to lift, push, pull, and carry materials and equipment up to 70 pounds. Ability to work around industrial equipment, noise, heat, and shop-related conditions. Requires manual dexterity to use hand tools and precision instruments. Other Hand tools are necessary to perform the job. After completing the introductory period, a tool allowance is supplied for approved equipment. Work Environment Active Workshop Setting - Busy, hands-on environment with continuous movement of vehicles, parts, and equipment.
