Position Overview

Our organization is seeking dedicated Family Medicine Faculty members:

• A strong enthusiasm for teaching outpatient Family Medicine, Women's Health, and low-risk Obstetrics is essential.

• Proficiency in OB ultrasound, colposcopies, and various in-office procedures is required.

• The role involves 70% clinical responsibilities and 30% administrative tasks.

• Expectations for on-call duties are reasonable.

• Affiliated with a prominent health system.

• Experience with EPIC software is advantageous.

• Compensation package includes: sign-on bonus, relocation assistance, base salary, annual CME stipend, six weeks of vacation/CME, health and retirement benefits, and paid malpractice insurance.

About Us

The Family Medicine Residency program has over four decades of exceptional medical training and is recognized as the largest Area Health Education Center in both North Carolina and the nation. Our residents play a vital role in fostering an innovative environment. The training we provide emphasizes rural medicine, community-oriented care, women's health, behavioral health, geriatrics, and the treatment of special populations, including those with substance use disorders. In collaboration with a small non-profit health system based in Boone, NC, residents receive top-notch training in rural family medicine.

This health system operates two hospitals in Boone and Linville, NC (Watauga Medical Center and Cannon Memorial Hospital), along with a regional cancer center and a 27-bed inpatient behavioral health facility.

Most of the training occurs at Watauga Medical Center, which boasts:

• An "A" grade from Leap Frog for safety.

• Gold Seal of Approval from the Joint Commission.

• Advanced Certification for Chest Pain from the Joint Commission.

• Primary Stroke Certification from the Joint Commission.

• Stroke Honor Roll Silver Plus Achievement Award from the American Heart Association.
