We are seeking a highly skilled, dependable, and patient-centered Mammography Technologist / Breast Imaging Technologist to join our team full-time on a Monday-Thursday, 4 x 8-hour schedule.

Planned retirement transition
This position is being opened as part of a planned transition for our long-time mammography technologist, who is preparing for retirement after many years of dedicated service to Excel Medical Imaging and our patients. The incoming technologist will have the opportunity to step into an established breast imaging program with strong physician support, existing workflows, and a patient-centered culture.

This is a key role within our breast imaging program. The ideal candidate is an experienced, high-functioning mammography technologist who can perform high-quality screening and diagnostic mammography, assist the physician with stereotactic breast biopsies, help coordinate ACR/MQSA documentation and accreditation readiness, and provide X-ray and DEXA support as needed.
This position is best suited for a technologist who values image quality, patient care, clinical accountability, direct physician collaboration, and the ability to work in a supportive outpatient setting without hospital bureaucracy.

Responsibilities

• Perform high-quality screening and diagnostic mammography exams, including 2D and 3D/tomosynthesis studies, following established protocols and safety guidelines.
• Position patients properly and compassionately while maintaining excellent image quality, appropriate compression, and patient comfort.
• Assist the physician with stereotactic breast biopsy procedures, including patient preparation, positioning, targeting workflow, specimen imaging support, post-procedure imaging, and room turnover.
• Coordinate and maintain mammography-related ACR/MQSA documentation, including technologist qualifications, continuing education, continuing experience, QC records, biopsy documentation, and accreditation readiness.
• Assist with ACR mammography and stereotactic breast biopsy accreditation submissions, image selection, QC documentation, and communication with the supervising physician, medical physicist, and administrative team.
• Perform DEXA exams as needed.
• Provide general X-ray support as needed, within scope of licensure and experience.
• Review patient history, exam indications, prior imaging availability, and relevant documentation prior to imaging.
• Maintain clear documentation in RIS/PACS and complete required worksheets, logs, biopsy documentation, and quality records.
• Communicate effectively with radiologists, physicians, clinical staff, front desk, scheduling, and patients.
• Support breast imaging follow-up workflow, biopsy scheduling coordination, diagnostic recommendation tracking, and patient communication as appropriate.
• Maintain mammography equipment, biopsy supplies, exam rooms, infection control standards, and patient safety practices.
• Participate in quality improvement, protocol updates, ACR readiness, and education-focused workflow with residents and clinical learners when appropriate.
• Support a culture of teamwork, accountability, patient-centered care, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• ARRT certification in Radiography required.
• ARRT Mammography certification, ARRT(M), strongly preferred; highly qualified MQSA-experienced candidates may be considered based on documentation and experience.
• Current Florida Radiologic Technologist license required.
• MQSA-qualified to perform mammography independently required, or ability to provide documentation of current MQSA qualifications before independent scanning.
• Current BLS certification required.
• Experience with 3D mammography/tomosynthesis preferred.
• Experience assisting with stereotactic breast biopsies strongly preferred.
• Experience with ACR/MQSA documentation, quality control, and accreditation workflow strongly preferred.
• DEXA experience preferred.
• X-ray experience preferred.
• Strong technical, communication, documentation, and patient care skills.
• Ability to work independently while maintaining excellent image quality and workflow efficiency.
• Comfortable collaborating directly with radiologists, physicians, and clinical staff.
• Commitment to lifelong learning, quality improvement, and high-quality patient-centered care.
