Radiology Technologist PRN

Radiology Technician (PRN) – St. Joseph Hospital, Lake Saint Louis, MO Job Type: Temporary / PRN Responsibilities Explain procedures to patients and provide appropriate educational material. Transport patients to and from clinical areas and verify patient identity according to policies and procedures. Prepare patients for radiology exams by positioning them for the procedure. Follow radiation safety procedures and guidelines, preventing unnecessary radiation exposure. Prepare and administer contrast media and medications within the accepted scope of practice and applicable state and federal regulations. Observe patients during procedures, report abnormal activity, and monitor protocols with recommended updates or refinements. Ensure prompt submission of high‑quality images and documents to PACS, checking image quality, lead markers, and patient data/history. Maintain equipment and report potential problems or malfunctions to appropriate personnel; lock/tag out equipment when necessary. Keep procedure rooms, storage areas, dressing rooms, and other department areas clean and orderly. May perform limited CT procedures in emergent situations when a CT technologist is not on site. Work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications Completion of a Radiology Technology program. No prior work experience required, but completion of a Radiology program is mandatory. Current BLS HCP certification. ARRT‑R radiography certification required within 6 months of hire date. ARRT‑BD bone density certification acceptable. State licensure or accreditation in Illinois, Missouri, Oklahoma, or Wisconsin as required (e.g., Illinois Emergency Management Agency, Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services). Physical Requirements Constant standing and walking. Frequent use of vision and depth perception for distances near and far. Frequent use of hearing and speech for oral communication and detecting alarms. Frequent lifting, carrying, and pushing/pulling objects weighing 0–25 lbs. Frequent moving of patients and occasional lifting of objects weighing 25–50 lbs. Occasional bending, stooping, squatting, twisting, and repetitive foot/leg and hand/arm movements.
