Senior Java Backend Developer (Onsite)

Salary: $105,000 - 145,000 per year Requirements:
- 8+ years of backend engineering experience
- Expert-level Java, Spring Boot, and REST API development skills
- Strong experience with microservices and distributed systems
- Experience with SQL/NoSQL databases, CI/CD, and containerization
- Ability to work on-site in Woodlawn, Maryland
- Bachelors degree
- Knowledge of cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP, including IAM, networking, load balancing, API gateways, and cloud messaging systems
- Understanding of networking and infrastructure concepts, including DNS, routing, SSL/TLS, service discovery, and reverse proxies
- Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD tools such as GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or GitLab
- Knowledge of observability and reliability tools and practices, including logging, metrics, distributed tracing, health checks, and readiness probes
- Experience with messaging and integration technologies such as Kafka, RabbitMQ, JMS, webhooks, or event-driven patterns
- Understanding of security practices including OAuth2/OIDC, JWTs, secrets management, API rate limiting, throttling, and circuit breakers
- Terraform and Helm knowledge is valuable but not required
- Federal agency experience and familiarity with AWS, Kafka, or OpenShift are preferred
- Develop backend services using Java and Spring Boot for large-scale systems
- Build and maintain RESTful APIs that support millions of transactions
- Modernize legacy systems into scalable, cloud-ready architectures
- Collaborate with architects, product owners, and federal stakeholders
- Maintain performance, security, and reliability across backend services
