Nursing Assistant Position at Ridges HospitalRidges Hospital is looking for a passionate and hardworking Nursing Assistant to join our Med-Surg/Oncology unit! Located in Burnsville, just 20 minutes south of Minneapolis, MN, near the 35 E and 35 W conjunctions. This position works 12-hour shifts, every third weekend rotation (Fri, Sat, Sun), and on the night (7pm-7:30am) shift.The Nursing Assistant is responsible for assisting the professional nurse/caregiver in the delivery of patient care, transporting patient and/or equipment, setting up and maintaining patient rooms, and the reordering and stocking of supplies. The Nursing Assistant does not work autonomously but works under the direction of a professional nurse. The Nursing Assistant may be given a patient care assignment based on unit needs and the discretion of the manager/charge nurse.Provides basic patient care by performing routine duties to include:Personal grooming, bathing, toileting, feedingSkin care needs (clean and sterile dressing changes), applying ointments/creamsOral hygieneSpecimen collection/testingPosition/ambulatingChanging linensPromptly answers call lightsAssists the nurse in monitoring patient conditionAccurately takes and records weights, input/output, blood pressure, temperature, pulse rates, respiration, oxygen saturationPlaces patient on/off monitors or equipmentReports unusual findings to the RN in a timely mannerAssists with admissions, transfers, and discharge of patientsOrients patient and their family to the environmentAssures the patient's belongings are accounted for, documented upon admission, transfer and dischargeTransports patients, equipment, specimen and suppliesAssures patients get to appointments on timeUses transfer belt when assisting patients with transfers and/or ambulationCleans sets up, and maintains rooms and equipmentOrders and stocks suppliesAccurately documents tasks performed on appropriate formPerforms other tasks as neededLicense/Certification/RegistrationSuccessful completion of Fairview's OnTrack Nursing Assistant training program or another Fairview sponsored Nursing Assistant programSix months of recent direct care experience in a long term, home care or acute care setting. (Appropriate roles may include, Nursing Assistant, PCA, Resident Assistant or Emergency Room Technician)Current enrollment in an LPN, RN or Nurse Practitioner program, and completion of one (1) semester of clinical rotation within the programCurrent certification on the Minnesota Nursing Assistant Registry upon hire. This requirement does not need to be maintained throughout employment and is not required if subsequently transferring into another Nursing Assistant or Nursing Station Tech or Nursing Station Attendant positionBasic Life Support (BLS for Healthcare Providers) certification required.
