Controller

A leading multi-billion dollar global hedge fund is seeking a Management Company Controller to lead the accounting and financial reporting for the firm's management company and corporate entities. Reporting directly to the CFO, this highly visible leadership role is responsible for overseeing the monthly close, financial reporting, budgeting, treasury, payroll, tax coordination, and internal controls while driving process improvements across the finance organization. Responsibilities Lead all accounting and financial reporting activities for the management company and affiliated corporate entities. Oversee the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process, ensuring timely and accurate financial statements in accordance with U.S. GAAP. Manage the general ledger, account reconciliations, journal entries, accruals, and consolidations across multiple legal entities. Supervise accounts payable, payroll accounting, employee reimbursements, fixed assets, prepaid expenses, and cash management. Manage management company cash flow, treasury operations, banking relationships, and liquidity planning. Coordinate annual financial statement audits and serve as the primary contact for external auditors. Oversee income tax compliance by coordinating with external tax advisors on federal, state, local, and partnership tax matters. Ensure compliance with internal accounting policies, SOX-style control environments, and evolving accounting standards. Develop and enhance accounting policies, internal controls, and scalable processes to support the firm's continued growth. Drive automation initiatives, workflow improvements, and system implementations to increase efficiency across the accounting function. Collaborate with HR on compensation accounting, bonus accruals, deferred compensation, equity plans, and benefit-related accounting. Review and approve balance sheet reconciliations while maintaining strong governance over financial reporting. Mentor, develop, and lead a team of accounting professionals, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement. Prepare financial reporting packages and executive presentations for the CFO, partners, and senior leadership. Qualifications Bachelor' s degree in Accounting or Finance; Master' s degree preferred. 10+ years of progressive accounting experience Experience within a hedge fund, asset manager, private equity firm, investment advisor, or alternative investment platform strongly preferred. Deep understanding of U.S. GAAP and corporate accounting. Proven leadership experience managing accounting teams. Strong knowledge of management company accounting, budgeting, payroll accounting, treasury, and financial reporting. Experience working with external auditors and tax advisors. Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with senior executives. #J-18808-Ljbffr
