Job Description – DDC Sales & Vertical Market Development Manager

POSITION OVERVIEW

The DDC Sales & Vertical Market Development Manager is responsible for generating new

business, expanding ABA’s presence across key technical vertical markets, developing

strategic client relationships, conducting product and technology research, and supporting

overall business development initiatives. This role also provides project management and

budget oversight for the projects and clients sold.------------------------------------------------------------

1. DDC SALES & SOLUTION DEVELOPMENT

• Lead sales efforts for DDC and building automation solutions using Reliable Controls and

ABA-approved technologies.

• Develop engineered scopes, takeoffs, budgets, and proposals.

• Conduct site walks, discovery meetings, and technical discussions.

• Prepare and deliver sales presentations and solution demonstrations.

• Collaborate with engineering and operations for accurate design and pricing.

• Track pipeline activity and report to the President.

2. VERTICAL MARKET DEVELOPMENT

Responsible for driving growth and brand presence across:

• Data Centers

• Geothermal Buildings

• Custom Homes / Luxury High-Performance Homes

• Mechanical Contractors

• Retrofit & Modernization Projects

• Commercial Office

• Multi-Family / Mixed‐Use

• Healthcare

• Higher Education

• Industrial & Manufacturing• Hospitality

Vertical duties:

• Build target lists and outreach strategies.

• Network with developers, GCs, engineers, and facility teams.

• Build multi‐year market penetration plans.

3. CLIENT RELATIONS & ACCOUNT MANAGEMENT

• Maintain strong relationships with owners, developers, and mechanical partners.

• Act as primary pre-sale and post-sale contact.

• Conduct periodic project and satisfaction follow‐ups.

• Manage escalated client issues with urgency.

• Support long-term retention and repeat business.

4. PRODUCT & TECHNOLOGY RESEARCH

• Stay current on new automation hardware, software, IoT, and smart‐building

technologies.

• Evaluate competitive products for ABA leadership.

• Support engineering on standards and vendor decisions.

• Maintain expertise in BACnet, analytics, geothermal controls, and data center systems.

• Identify new revenue opportunities.

• Build strategic partnerships in target verticals.

• Support marketing initiatives, case studies, and presentations.

• Represent ABA professionally at events and industry associations.

PROJECT & BUDGET MANAGEMENT

(For all projects and clients sold)

6. PROJECT MANAGEMENT OVERSIGHT

• Provide clean handoffs with scope, schedule, and budget assumptions.

• Support PMs on execution and client satisfaction.

• Attend key project meetings and commissioning reviews.

• Ensure ABA quality and integration standards are met.

7. BUDGET MANAGEMENT & FINANCIAL CONTROL

• Assist in developing accurate budgets.

• Monitor labor, materials, subcontractors, and change orders.

• Report cost variances and protect margin integrity.

• Support preparation and approval of change orders.

• Ensure system performance and satisfaction after project completion.

• Identify service contracts, upgrades, and energy improvements.

• Maintain long-term executive relationships for repeat business.

QUALIFICATIONS

• 3–7+ years in DDC controls, automation, HVAC, geothermal, or mechanical systems

preferred.

• Strong understanding of HVAC systems, BACnet architecture, geothermal, VRF, and energy

systems.

• Excellent technical communication and client presentation skills.

• Ability to read mechanical drawings and specifications.

• Strong project management and budgeting ability.

• Highly organized, self-driven, and professional.
