Interview with unit leaders. Two years recent ICU experience required. Radius rule: 50 miles and candidates may not be full time, part time, or PRN with any facility associated with CommonSpirit, including CHI and/or Dignity. Driver's license required at submittal and will be used to determine if candidate is outside 50 miles. Fingernail policy: Artificial nails are prohibited in all departments providing patient care. Refusal to remove nails will lead to termination of contract. RNs - Pass/Fail exam on Friday during orientation. Open book exam on skills learned - they are given all necessary resources to pass. Must receive a 90% to pass or they will be terminated.

Certifications Required: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS. Number of Beds: 34. Nurse:Patient Ratios: 1:1-2 ICU, PCU 1:4-5 and MS 1:5-6. Common diagnoses/Types of patients: Adults and Peds >15 years old, Neuro surgery (initiating neuro interventionalist with thrombectomy program) - not required exp., Respiratory failure, ARDS, MODS, sepsis, stroke, cardiogenic shock (impella, balloon pump - not required exp.), renal failure (CRRT) - not required exp., general surgery, psych/OD, GI bleeds, cancer specific surgeries - esophagectomy, internal chemo administration, CVPs, Alines, Swans, EV-1000, ICP monitoring- all can train real time, Zoll -Thermoguard for hypothermia protocol, Bell Mont rapid transfuser.

Are RNs required to titrate drips? Yes. Common titratable &/or set rate drips: Vasopressors, paralytics, narcotics, sedation, antiarrhythmics. Is there a charge nurse on each shift? Does the charge nurse take an assignment? Yes - will attend RRTs and Codes. Are there nurse aids/patient care techs on this unit? Ratios? Duties? Yes - 1:18. RT Equipment (Vents, Cpap, BiPap, High Flow, etc.) Are RNs required to do anything with these besides trouble shoot? Nasal cannula to vents. Are there Tele/Monitor Techs on this unit? Are RNs required to read their own strips? What brand are the tele monitors? No techs - Draeger heart monitoring with centralized telemetry monitoring. RNs need to be able to read and interpret.

Shifts & Scheduling: 0630-1830, 1830-0630 // manager will make schedule based on unit needs. Weekend Requirements: Every other. Holiday Requirements: 2 out of 3 major holidays or Every other or as needed for based on unit needs. Floating Requirements: Will float to all inpatient units, excluding Maternity/NICU. Scrub Color/Dress Code: Navy Blue. How many shifts of unit/department specific orientation? 2 shifts. Additional Notes: Fast paced unit with volume flexes due to being primary tertiary hospital for the system. Attributes that will make a nurse successful on this unit are the ability ask questions, a positive attitude, willingness to help others, critical thinking skills, personable, and positive attitude. Have a team environment meant to foster high quality care and work with attendings and student providers (fellows, residents) to collaborate on care. Radius Rule: 50 miles AND candidates may not be full time, part time, or PRN with any facility associated with CommonSpirit, including CHI and/or Dignity. RTO needed upfront (7 or less days per 13 week contract). Additional RTO will not be approved, including after submissions.
