Position Overview

This role involves evaluating and providing treatment for patients facing physical, emotional, cognitive, and psychosocial challenges.

Key Responsibilities

• Assess the patient's capability to safely and effectively carry out independent living tasks.
• Develop a tailored care plan that specifies the type and frequency of treatments required.
• Execute the treatment plan utilizing suitable modalities.
• Document patient progress and findings accurately.
• Continuously monitor and adjust the care plan as necessary, seeking consultation when needed.
• Educate patients and their families or caregivers about identified deficits.
• Assist with planning and executing patient discharge from therapy services, providing guidance on adaptive equipment and support programs.
• Supervise care provided by designated individuals in accordance with established regulations and standards.
• Maintain a vigilant and safe working environment.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Education: A Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Doctorate degree in Occupational Therapy or a related field necessary for state licensure.
• Experience: No prior experience is required.

Physical Demands

• Regularly required to stand.
• Frequent lifting, carrying, and pushing/pulling of objects weighing up to 25 lbs.
• Regular use of hearing and speech for effective communication.
• Frequent auditory skills to identify body sounds and alarms.
• Visual acuity for both near (20 inches or less) and far (20 feet or more) distances.
• Regular walking, reaching, gripping, and data entry tasks.
• Occasional bending, stooping, climbing, kneeling, sitting, squatting, twisting, and repetitive movements of the legs and arms.
• Occasional lifting and moving of patients and objects weighing between 25-50 lbs.
• Occasional driving and rare crawling.

Licensure and Certifications

• Resuscitation Certification: Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider (BLS HCP) certification is required within 90 days of employment. Additional certifications may be necessary based on departmental needs.
• State Licensure:
  • Illinois: Occupational Therapist - Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR)
  • Missouri: Occupational Therapist - Missouri Division of Professional Registration
  • Oklahoma: Occupational Therapist - Oklahoma Medical Board
  • Wisconsin: Occupational Therapist (OT) - Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services
