Clinical Educator MST

Position Summary The Clinical Practice Educator is responsible for developing and maintaining the clinical skills of the nursing staff. The educator uses nursing theory and evidence‑based practices to guide education activities, advances professional development for direct patient care staff, and assists in developing the Nursing Professional Practice Committee. The role collaborates with Nursing Directors and Managers to identify education needs and implements strategic education plans. This position reports to the Chief Nursing Officer or designee. Major Responsibilities Participate in marketing activities, committees, task forces, and speaking engagements. Participate in staff recognition activities that reward positive behaviors. Participate in departmental and organization‑wide process improvement forums and implement practical solutions. Assist with fundraising and development related activities. Contribute to departmental projects by recommending and implementing new processes or procedures to improve work efficiency and service quality. Identify departmental work and assist coworkers beyond regular responsibilities. Participate in professional growth activities that enhance value to the organization. Assist staff in completing care efficiently, effectively, and safely; role‑model decision making. Provide coaching and supervision when clinical practice knowledge deficits are identified. Remove roadblocks, prevent problems, and utilize interpersonal and conflict‑resolution skills. Ensure completion and documentation of unit logs and quality control measures; participate in performance‑improvement projects. Model high‑quality patient care, motivate teamwork, and enforce compliance with policy and accreditation standards. Precept and mentor new hires, new graduates, float staff, and experienced staff to promote clinical excellence. Leadership Functions as Nursing Supervisor as requested or required and participates actively on clinical practice and safety councils. Clinical Teaching and Assessment Safely and competently educate clinical staff to perform tasks and procedures per scope of practice and hospital policy. Assess competency of new talent on hire and coordinate orientation in collaboration with Nursing Directors/Managers. Develop and coordinate an annual competency assessment program for nursing staff. Oversee the preceptor and nurse residency program activities. Document new hire and annual competency assessments. Conduct educational needs assessments, develop an education calendar, and recruit staff for attendance. Teach a minimum of two CEU‑approved courses per month. Deliver at least two mini‑in‑services on each unit each month, including presentations, literature reviews, videos, and coaching. Make clinical practice rounds and interact with staff on all shifts, including weekends, with specific learning objectives. Develop staff skills in evidence‑based practices, critical thinking, time management, decision‑making, technical competence, and customer service. Guide performance of consistent standards of practice across settings. Qualifications Current California RN license. A minimum of an Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN); Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred. BLS, ACLS; CCRN preferred. Minimum three years acute nursing experience. Physical Demands and Working Conditions Visual: adequate vision for reading patient charts, operating equipment, and instructional materials. Hearing: adequate hearing to ensure patient safety and compliance with equipment operation instructions.
