Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN), 12.5‑Hour Shift, Specialty Float TeleLocation: Cooperman Barnabas Medical Ctr Department Name: Telemetry Float Pool Req #: 0000229306 Status: Hourly Shift: Evening Pay Range: $47.85 — $60.60 per hour Job Overview The Telemetry Float Pool offers exposure to various specialties including Coly Rectal, Medical/Surgical, CTICU Stepdown, Neuro Stepdown, Heart Failure and Stroke Units. It fosters a collaborative team culture in a supportive, high‑speed environment to refine new graduate skill into competent nursing practice. Qualifications Graduated from an accredited school of nursing Completed all orientation requirements of Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center Successfully completed all orientation programs Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing or currently matriculating Current Registered Nurse License in the state of New Jersey Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association Scheduling Requirements Full‑Time 7 p‑m – 8 a‑m, 3 shifts per week 12.5‑hour shifts; 37.5 hours per week Every other weekend required Essential Functions Participate in discharge planning and develop written teaching discharge plans for assigned patients. Appropriately delegate duties while remaining ultimately responsible. Assume charge nurse functions as delegated, including staffing assessment and delegation based on patient acuity. Complete daily patient classification per facility policy. Complete unit‑based competencies per JCAHO requirements and hospital policy. Attend competency days and complete all required competencies satisfactorily. Remain knowledgeable about current nursing policies, procedures, and regulatory standards. Comply with Medication Reconciliation and unit departmental scheduling guidelines. Deliver individualized patient care consistent with established standards of care. Demonstrate positive guest relations and introduce yourself to patients and family. Orient patients and families to the nursing unit and ensure patient satisfaction. Report patient or family concerns to the nurse manager or designee timely. Demonstrate proficiency with phlebotomy sticks and blood administration policies. Initiate IV sticks, maintain IV sites, and monitor IV fluids. Participate in continuous interdisciplinary quality improvement activities. Maintain accurate and concise documentation of patient status, interventions, and responses. Document medications in accordance with nursing policy. Advocate for patient safety and use sound nursing judgment. Maintain privacy, confidentiality, and exhibit tact and compassion at all times. Activate the chain of command when appropriate for patient care needs. Recognize signs of complications of pain management therapies and intervene appropriately. Understand code cart procedures and activate cardiac/respiratory arrest mechanisms correctly. Use SBAR for hand-off communication to appropriate individuals. Apply principles of pain management to assess and provide appropriate treatment. Utilize available resources for initial assessment, discharge planning, and ongoing reassessment. Provide a compassionate and supportive environment with consistent service. Adhere to patient rights and ensure confidential treatment of records. Demonstrate professionalism with families, visitors, physicians, co‑workers, and supervisors. Communicate effectively, support teamwork, and participate in meetings and projects. Leverage continuous quality improvement principles to assess and improve departmental functions. Organize work, set priorities, and seek guidance as appropriate. Make timely decisions consistent with department objectives and policies. Participate in ongoing education as required. Provide care for patients with mechanical ventilation and assist with weaning. Assist with intubation and extubation. Manage telemetry patients and related equipment (electrode placement, arrhythmia interpretation, code care). Perform proper chest tube management, suctioning, and trach care.
