This role is part of our Tactical Missiles and Integrated Defense Systems business, which designs and develops integrated missile and defense systems that support critical missions across air, land, and sea. We combine comprehensive analysis, engineering, and program execution capabilities to deliver mission-tailored solutions that reduce lead times, lower costs, and simplify complex multi-vendor supply chains. Backed by decades of flight-proven and fielded performance, we design and build mission-critical technologies including launch systems, propulsion, payload integration solutions, UAV components, missile subsystems, and Safe & Arm systems.

As a CNC Machinist, you will operate and set up computer numerical control (CNC) equipment used to manufacture precision components for space and defense applications. You will work from engineering specifications and customer drawings, inspect components throughout the machining process, and help maintain the quality, productivity, and organization of the machine shop.

Responsibilities

• Operate CNC machines to manufacture precision components in accordance with engineering specifications, customer drawings, and production requirements.
• Set up CNC machines, tooling, work holding, and related equipment as appropriate for assigned work.
• Load and unload raw materials and machined components and support related shop activities including deburring and part handling.
• Read and follow engineering drawings, customer specifications, setup information, and manufacturing documentation.
• Perform in-process inspections and verify machined components meet dimensional and customer requirements.
• Monitor machining operations to maintain quality, productivity, and process consistency.
• Properly use shop tools, setup equipment, and measuring equipment appropriate to assigned machining work.
• Maintain CNC equipment, tooling, shop supplies, and work areas.
• Maintain a clean and organized machining area free from scrap and debris.

Required Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and ability to safely operate shop tools and equipment.
• Ability to follow engineering specifications, customer drawings, and manufacturing instructions.
• Ability to inspect machined components and identify dimensional or production concerns.
• Strong attention to detail, communication skills, and commitment to producing quality work.

Job Level Requirements

• CNC Machinist I: Minimum of 1 year of relevant shop experience. 
  • Pay range $22.00-$28.00
• CNC Machinist II: Minimum of 2 years of relevant machining experience.
  • Pay range $27.00-$34.00
• CNC Machinist III: Minimum of 5 years of CNC machining experience in a precision manufacturing environment.
  • Pay range $33.00-$40.00
• CNC Machinist IV: Minimum of 7 years of relevant CNC machining experience.
  • Pay Range $39.00-$48.00

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience setting up and operating CNC lathes.
• Experience with Mazak Integrex equipment.
• Experience with Fanuc or Siemens CNC controls.
• Experience across multiple CNC machining centers.
• Experience with 3-axis, 4-axis, and 5-axis CNC machining centers.
• Knowledge of G and M code and controller-based program edits.
• Experience reading blueprints, engineering drawings, and computer-aided design (CAD) models.
• Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) in accordance with ASME Y14.5.
• Experience using precision inspection equipment including micrometers, calipers, indicators, bore gauges, and height gauges.
• Experience machining aerospace-grade materials such as Inconel, titanium, stainless steel, aluminum, and other high-strength alloys.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the workday.
• Ability to occasionally use stairs.
• Ability to lift up to 40 pounds.
