Summary The Housing Assistant position is located within the Homeless Veterans Community Employment Services. Responsibilities THIS IS NOT A VIRTUAL POSITION, YOU MUST LIVE WITHIN OR BE WILLING TO RELOCATE WITHIN A COMMUTABLE DISTANCE OF THE DUTY LOCATION Major duties and responsibilities include: Providing housing lists for Veterans and conducting housing seminars. Driving Veterans to or meeting them at housing units for viewing and walk-through purposes. Coordinating services between the VA and private housing organizations. Communicating with landlords and public housing authorities. Collecting and managing clinical and administrative data for the program. Maintaining an inventory of available housing units and conducting outreach to prospective landlords. Performing other duties as assigned. Qualifications IN ORDER TO QUALIFY FOR THIS POSITION AT THE GS-7 LEVEL YOU MUST MEET THE FOLLOWING REQUIREMENTS: SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: You must possess one (1) year of specialized experience, equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-6) in Federal Service, that equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSA's) needed to successfully perform the duties of the position and that is typically in or related to this Housing Assistant position to be filled. Specialized experience includes using computer applications, including word processing, spreadsheet, and database software, to organize, input, and maintain data; providing housing information and coordinating viewings; developing relationships with other organizations such as property management groups and landlords. (THIS EXPERIENCE MUST BE SUPPORTED BY YOUR RESUME TO BE CREDITABLE.) ~AND~ DRIVER'S LICENSE REQUIREMENT: This position requires a current, valid state driver's license. Receiving Service Credit for Earning Annual (Vacation) Leave: Federal Employees earn annual leave at a rate (4, 6 or 8 hours per pay period) which is based on the number of years they have served as a Federal employee. Selected applicants may qualify for credit toward annual leave accrual, based on prior work experience or military service experience. This credited service can be used in determining the rate at which they earn annual leave. Such credit must be requested and approved prior to the appointment date and is not guaranteed.
