Fertitta Family College of Medicine at the University of Houston. Responsibilities Provide high quality care for individuals housed in the Harris County Jail. Perform intake health assessments and manage urgent care issues. Identify and treat chronic care illnesses. Collaborate with advanced practice practitioners and work in conjunction with Harris County Sheriff Office deputies. Coordinate with nursing staff and on-site services such as radiology, pharmacy, nutrition, dental, and laboratory services. Communicate with Harris Health Transfer Center or other local hospitals if patients require a higher level of care. Ensure organizational compliance with regulatory and accreditation requirements. Qualifications Degree Doctor of Medicine - Board Certified or board-eligible in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, or Emergency Medicine; must become board certified before board eligibility runs out; must meet all credentialing criteria as set by the Medical Executive Committee. Licensure Texas Medical Board - M.D. or D.O. must hold a valid Texas license to practice medicine and be registered as a physician in the State of Texas. DEA License Must remain active throughout employment. Work Experience Completion of an ACGME-accredited 3-year or 4-year residency program in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, or Emergency Medicine. Communication Skills Above Average Verbal Communication (Heavy Public Contact). Exceptional Verbal (Public Speaking). Writing/Correspondence; Writing/Reports. Proficiencies Computer, Suturing, Splinting, EKG Interpretation. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities Analytical Abilities, Mathematics, Medical Terminology Knowledge, Research Knowledge and Abilities. Work Schedule Flexible Holidays Reporting Reports To Position: Medical Director Employees Supervised: No Supervisory Responsibilities Other Special Requirements Request for leave must be submitted sixty (60) days in advance for approval to enable arrangements of schedule. CME consists of five (5) business days per year. Notice must be given sixty (60) days in advance in order to make arrangements for coverage of services. #J-18808-Ljbffr
