The Connecticut Airport Authority (CAA) is accepting applications for a full‑time Electrician position at Bradley International Airport in Windsor Locks, CT. Professional growth and development opportunities. A healthy work/life balance. Responsibilities Indoor and outdoor lighting repairs utilizing lifts and aerial equipment. General building electrical repairs and installations. Repair and maintenance of airfield lighting systems on runways, taxiways, and aprons as well as obstruction and beacon lighting on towers. Maintenance and troubleshooting of motor and control wiring for systems including energy management, HVAC, sump and wastewater ejector pumps, emergency generators, fire alarm and sprinkler systems, passenger loading bridges and baggage conveyor systems. Operation and maintenance of building switchgear. Position Requirements One‑hour response time when called into work. Valid driver’s license. Travel within the state to other CAA‑owned airports and facilities required. Position categorized as Emergency Support Services/Essential Staff; willing to work during emergency closures or significant events. Willing and able to respond to system and equipment emergencies whenever needed, including nights, weekends and holidays. May be required to work airside or landside snow removal during winter months from November 1 through April 30. Must successfully undergo background and security screening, physical examination, pre‑employment drug screening, fingerprinting, and maintain required security clearance. Must obtain and maintain Bradley movement area certification enabling independent operation of vehicles and equipment on airfield movement areas, and effective communication with ATC. Minimum Qualifications Four (4) years of experience in tasks in the electrical trade. Two (2) years of the General Experience must have been performing skilled electrical trades. Substitutions allowed: Graduation from a vocational or technical school with a diploma in a maintenance trade area may substitute for two (2) years of the General Experience. Completion of the UConn Facilities Internship Training Program may substitute for the General and Special Experience. At other state agencies, two (2) years as a Qualified Craft Worker Trainee may substitute for the General and Special Experience. Experience performing technical duties within the electrical trade on a military base, aircraft carrier or large compound may substitute on a year‑for‑year basis. Preferred Qualifications State of Connecticut E2 or E1 Electrical license. Experience with airport runway lighting systems. Experience with passenger boarding bridges. Experience with motor/equipment control systems. Experience with conveyor systems. Experience with fire alarm systems. Experience with low‑voltage wiring for HVAC controls. Experience with commercial switchgear and electrical equipment. Experience with industrial electrical systems. Experience working on large buildings. Experience with specialty testing equipment for high‑voltage circuits. Physical Requirements Adequate physical strength, stamina, agility, visual and auditory acuity and must maintain physical fitness to perform duties. Physical examination may be required.
