TX-STAR Speech Language Services partners with school systems across Texas to expand access to specialized student services. We are currently recruiting Occupational Therapists for school-based assignments in the Austin area.

These opportunities are designed for clinicians who want to help students strengthen functional abilities, participate more confidently in school routines, and gain greater independence within their learning environments.

Your Role and Responsibilities

As a school-based Occupational Therapist, you will assess how sensory, motor, and functional needs affect educational participation and provide services that support student access and progress.

In this role, you will:

• Complete occupational therapy evaluations focused on fine motor performance, sensory needs, functional participation, and classroom access

• Develop student-specific intervention plans using assessment findings, educational priorities, and IEP objectives

• Provide occupational therapy services that support measurable goals included in each student's Individualized Education Program

• Recommend adaptive tools, environmental modifications, accommodations, and practical strategies for use throughout the school day

• Help students improve participation in classroom tasks, transitions, self-care routines, and instructional activities

• Work closely with educators, families, campus teams, and other related-service professionals

• Deliver services on campus or through teletherapy when permitted by the district and assignment

• Monitor student response to intervention and revise service approaches as progress or needs change

• Prepare evaluations, progress summaries, service logs, and required records within established timelines

• Attend ARD and IEP meetings to communicate clinical findings and contribute recommendations

Qualifications for This Position

• Master's degree in Occupational Therapy or a closely related discipline

• Active Texas license to practice Occupational Therapy

• Understanding of educationally relevant therapy, IEP implementation, and school-based special education procedures

• Ability to independently organize evaluations, caseload responsibilities, service schedules, and documentation

• Strong professional communication and the ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary school teams

• Effective planning, recordkeeping, organization, and time-management skills

• Prior pediatric or educational-setting experience is preferred

Work Setting and Scheduling Options

• Campus-based opportunities in Austin, San Antonio, and neighboring communities

• Assignments may serve students from early childhood through high school

• Available scheduling arrangements may include:

  • Part-time placements

  • Hybrid assignments

• In-person and virtual service delivery may be available based on district requirements

• Placements are coordinated according to licensure, experience, availability, preferences, and current openings
