Machine Learning Engineer

The Enterprise Data & Analytics team inspires to build best in class customer experiences and revolutionize the food and drug retail industry. We are looking for people who are excited in re-imagining the grocery experience by harnessing the power of AI and digital technologies. The Machine Learning Platform team integrates state of the art Machine Learning models with decoupled and near real time data to generate insights and improve merchandising, supply chain, store operations etc.

As a full stack engineer, you will be responsible for building and operating the foundational pieces and frameworks of our ML platform. You will be responsible for designing, developing, testing, and managing large scale, high-performance Machine Learning systems (batch and/or streaming and/or API services) in a Multi Cloud environment to provide a robust ML pipelines. The candidate will have a background in computer science or a related technical field with experiences working with machine learning tools, high volume, message-based data integration technologies. A successful candidate will be both technically strong and business savvy, with a passion to make an impact through creative storytelling and timely actions. You are a self-starter, smart yet humble, with a bias for action.

Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Design and develop secure, scalable, high-performance, and reliable and cost-effective Machine Learning platform software and services in a multi-Cloud environment
• Translates machine learning algorithms into production-level code
• Creates metrics to continuously evaluate the performance of machine learning solutions
• Maintains and improves the performance of existing machine learning solutions
• Keeps abreast with new tools, algorithms and techniques in machine learning and works to implement them in the organization
• Develop tools and dashboards for monitoring and scaling ML life cycle and provide observability into the systems execution flow
• Develop tools and dashboards to facilitate reporting for business analytics and data exploration
• Partner with architecture, Infosec, and development teams across the entire enterprise to establish a strong relationship and trust for prioritizing and delivering projects on time and with a high degree of quality.
• Establish patterns for re-use, standards, and best practices for Data Science & Data Engineering & Analytics such that Machine Learning Platform quality is maximized.
• Partner with the Audit, Compliance and Governance leaders to ensure data is secured and conforms to the guidelines laid out by the organization and the industry.
• Partner with cross-functional teams to deliver large scale strategic projects as well as ongoing operational activities related to Machine Learning Platform. Interface with cross functional leaders and represent point of views to drive measurable success.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's or Master's in computer engineering, computer science or related area.
• 4+ years proven experience in developing Micro services and UI applications using at least one programming language like Python, Java or Scala.
• Experience building NodeJS Dashboards applications and HTML, CSS and ReactJS.
• Hands-on experience working with: Relational/SQL, distributed columnar data stores/NoSQL databases (MongoDB or Cassandra), graph databases, timeseries databases, Spark streaming, Kafka, Avro, and more
• Deploying ML systems, data pipelines, preferably in the Cloud; Databricks, Azure and Snowflake experience is a plus
• Experience solving problems with Machine Learning tools such as Tensorflow or PyTorch or Scikit learn or Xgboost and data processing tools such as pandas, pyspark is a plus
• Experience with Spark SQL, Spark Streaming and using Core Spark API to explore Spark features to build data pipelines is a plus
• Extensive experience in data transformations for Retail business use cases will be a plus
• Knowledge for handling exceptions and automated re-processing and reconciling
• Passion for Data Quality with an ability to integrate these capabilities into the deliverables
• Knowledge of Jenkins for continuous integration and End-to-End automation for application build and deployments
• Proven capabilities for strong written and oral communication skill with the ability to synthesize, simplify and explain complex problems to different audiences.

Physical Environment:

• Work may be performed in a temperature-controlled environment.
• Must sit, stand, or walk for extended periods of time.
• May spend long periods of time at desk or computer terminal.
• Will use keyboards, telephone, and other office equipment during the course of normal workday.
• Stooping, bending, twisting, and reaching may be required in completion of job duties.
• Work day is fast paced; some evening and weekend work may be required.

Required Skills:

• Technical Skills:

o AI Development: Must have experience with at least 2 stages – Data Analysis and Model Development/Training Validation. If they have experience in the other areas (conceptualization, model deployment, or model testing) that is great. But the first 2 are absolutely required

o Platform they are working on is Google Cloud Platform (GCP) Must know cloud run and cloud functions. This is key because they are the 2 main ways they are feeding data into the models

o Must know Tensorflow
