The US operations are currently headquartered in Blauvelt, NY with current activity to relocate to Chestnut Ridge, NY by the end of 2027. About the Role:

The Jr. Quality Engineer contributes to and/or leads Quality System projects to plan, in advance of production, the inspection and testing activities required during production to achieve the manufactured final product. This position will be responsible for coordinating/managing, assessing and maintaining the quality activities in relation to the implementation of the part production approval process in production, and in compliance with company policies and guidelines.

This role will impact the total business through its day-to-day activities and strategic alignment. From ensuring the quality of both product and process, to the adherence of our team to plans which ensure customer expectations are met, the Jr. QA Engineer will make a direct impact on our ability to exceed those expectations. This role is designed to contribute to cross-functional projects which will foster growth and development of the selected individual.

Tasks / Activities

Operative  

• Participate in CAPA/ Continuous improvement/ PDCA processes, activities
• Review & release of new or updated Production control plans and Qualification runs
• Implement, maintain, and train to current Quality methods.
• Lead and participate in implementing/adhering SPC methods for data collection. 
• Maintain and collaborate with QC the application of Inspection protocols, Testing Plans/ Production Control Plans
• Lead and collaborate, as applicable, in the consistent performance of Gauge R&R / MSA across all operators and measurement tools

Strategic 

• Conduct internal audits and audit plans and ensure Testing Plans/ Production Control Plans are understood and followed in production, shipping and receiving.
• Coordinate efforts with our parent company to take advantage of global quality planning activities and initiatives. 
• Act as liaison with Corporate HQ in Germany regarding MSAs, Gage R&Rs, raw material specifications, sampling, and other quality activities.
• New production interaction with Product Development (PPD) i.e. ProTech bu.

• PPAP, as applicable to quality processes within the organization
• IATF 16949 development

Other 

• Ensures machinery, equipment, and facilities as it relates to quality control and quality assurance are properly maintained.
• Maintain and create positive long-term relationships with production personnel and internal staff. 
• Ensure compliance with company requirements for safety and confidentiality. 
• Attends relevant industry conventions, seminars, webinars as applicable.
• Participates in Department Meetings.
• Performs other responsibilities and tasks as assigned.
• In the case of serious quality issues, machine and/or system disturbances at any time this role has the authority to stop the manufacturing and distribution process.

Qualifications

Education / Experience

• • Bachelor’s Degree in Science, Engineering or other related field.
  • 2-5 years’ experience with quality engineering and management, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of cGMP/QSR, ISO and FDA device/drug/biologics regulations, and / or automotive industries, IATF 16949 standard, VDA regulations. 
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing principles, 5S and other productivity and quality improvement methods.
  • Experience with OSHA and other regulations and rules that effect safety.
  • Experience with ERP/MRP systems.
  • Intermediate to advanced level of computer knowledge in the Microsoft Office Suites.
  • Reading, analyzing, and interpreting technical procedures, manuals and manufacturing documents including financial data as it relates to investments and personnel.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift 30-50 pounds.
• Standing or walking for long periods of time.
• Work activity requires repetitive bending, reaching, walking, stopping, and crouching, lifting, and climbing. Job duties also require regular use of fingers and hand when working with material and equipment.
