ENGINEER

Clermont County is seeking an Engineer to join our Building Inspection Department. This position offers an opportunity to apply your engineering expertise to meaningful community projects, building code compliance, and the development of safe, sustainable infrastructure. What you will do Review building plans and construction projects for compliance with applicable building codes, County regulations, and floodplain requirements. Administer and review plans for compliance with County Flood Plain Regulations, including the review of development proposals and construction activities within regulated floodplain areas. Provide technical consultation and coordinate project-site inspections, including inspections associated with floodplain development. Communicate with property owners, contractors, and design professionals to address code-related and floodplain-related questions and concerns. Review staff comments and provide recommendations to the County Planning Commission on major subdivisions and development projects. Attend hearings, conferences, and committee meetings to represent the County and provide technical information. Coordinate with other departments and participate in short- and long-term projects to resolve problems and improve County operations. Maintain accurate records, complete required reports, and support a professional, cooperative working environment. What we're looking for The ideal candidate will have: An undergraduate degree in Engineering. A Flood Plain Manager Certification is preferred. Must have knowledge of flood plain management, stormwater, and hydrology engineering principals. Knowledge of building codes, construction practices, and engineering principles. Strong written and verbal communication skills. The ability to review technical documents, interpret regulations, and make sound recommendations. A positive attitude, professional demeanor, and commitment to customer service. A valid driver's license and the ability to perform required field inspections and site visits.
