Assistant Controller

At ReMarkets, the Assistant Controller serves as a key member of the Finance team, responsible for ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of the Company's financial reporting and accounting operations. Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer, this role partners closely with Operations, Sales, Supply Chain, and Executive Leadership to support the Company's continued growth. This role leads core accounting functions including financial reporting, consolidations, intercompany accounting, treasury activities, inventory accounting, audits, and compliance. As ReMarkets continues to grow, the Assistant Controller / Controller will help strengthen financial controls, develop scalable processes, and ensure the organization has the financial infrastructure needed to support the business. This is a hands‑on leadership role. The successful candidate will oversee accounting operations while actively participating in the work, including account reconciliations, journal entries, financial analysis, and process improvements. They are detail‑oriented, accountable, committed to continuous improvement, and capable of building strong partnerships across the organization while maintaining the accuracy, integrity, and reliability of the Company's financial information. What You Will Do (Key Responsibilities) Lead all accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, fixed assets, inventory accounting, payroll accounting, and treasury activities. Own the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting. Prepare and review monthly financial statements, variance analyses, and management reporting packages. Ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP and company accounting policies. Support preparation of board, lender, and investor reporting packages. Consolidations & Intercompany Accounting Manage multi-entity accounting structures and consolidated financial reporting. Prepare and review monthly consolidation entries and elimination schedules. Oversee intercompany transactions, reconciliations, settlements, and transfer pricing support. Ensure proper accounting treatment for related‑party transactions and complex organizational structures. Maintain accurate intercompany balances across domestic and international entities. Inventory & Operational Accounting Develop and maintain accounting processes related to inventory, refurbishment operations, asset recovery, and technology equipment remarketing. Partner with operations leadership to improve inventory accuracy, costing methodologies, and asset tracking procedures. Support accounting for technology equipment purchases, refurbishment costs, asset dispositions, and resale transactions. Evaluate and improve inventory controls and cycle count procedures. Treasury & Banking Oversee cash management and daily treasury operations. Maintain relationships with domestic banking partners. Coordinate international banking activities, foreign currency transactions, wire transfers, and global cash movements. Monitor liquidity, cash forecasting, and covenant compliance. Assist with lender reporting requirements and financing activities. Audit, Compliance & Controls Lead annual financial statement audits and coordinate external auditors. Maintain and strengthen internal controls and accounting policies. Ensure compliance with sales tax, property tax, and other regulatory requirements. Develop scalable processes and documentation to support growth and operational complexity. Partner with legal, tax, and compliance advisors on financial matters. Manage and develop accounting staff of at least 1‑2, including AP, AR, payroll, and general ledger activities. Establish performance expectations, training plans, and career development opportunities. Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and operational excellence. Serve as a strategic business partner to operations, sales, supply chain, and executive leadership. Other responsibilities as assigned. What You Bring Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. Public accounting and/or audit experience. 5‑8+ years of progressive accounting experience. Minimum 3 years in a Controller, Assistant Controller, Accounting Manager, or similar leadership role. Strong experience in multi‑entity accounting environments. Demonstrated expertise in intercompany accounting, reconciliations, and elimination entries. Extensive experience preparing consolidated financial statements. Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and financial reporting requirements. Experience leading annual audits and working directly with external auditors. Experience with treasury operations, banking relationships, and cash management. Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and ERP system experience. Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills. Willingness to remain hands‑on and actively participate in accounting operations when needed. Preferred Qualifications Experience within ITAD, technology refurbishment, electronics resale, circular economy, logistics, supply chain, manufacturing, distribution, asset recovery, or data center services industries. Experience supporting inventory‑intensive businesses. Experience with mergers and acquisitions, purchase accounting, and post‑acquisition integrations. Experience in private equity‑backed organizations. Experience supporting lender reporting, debt compliance, and covenant calculations. Familiarity with international operations, foreign currency transactions, and global trade environments. Experience implementing accounting process improvements and ERP enhancements. Experience supporting organizations with multiple locations and high transaction volumes.
