Lunchroom/Playground Aide

LUNCHROOM / PLAYGROUND AIDE (Part time 2hrs/day)

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalency certificate.
• Excellent human relations skills.
• Experience with young people.
• Prior experience in a school setting is desired.
• Ability to demonstrate keen observation competence.

Performance Responsibilities:

Playground:

• Supervise students at playtime and maintain a harmonious atmosphere on the playground.
• Organizes group games and activities.
• Assumes responsibility for play equipment.
• Takes part in in-service training programs.
• Directs movement of groups to and from the playground.
• Displays initiative during supervision duties.
• Maintains student confidentiality.
• Carries a first aid pack provided by the school nurse.
• Reports problems and accidents.
• Follows established safety procedures.
• Directs students to keep hands and feet to oneself.

Cafeteria:

• Supervises students using their utensils safely.
• Supervises students in appropriate cafeteria behavior.

Including:

*use of a quiet voice

*keeping hands and feet to oneself

*Use of safe movement

• Provides assistance in the maintenance of a safe and orderly cafeteria environment.
• Is sensitive to students requiring individual or special needs.
• Dresses appropriately in a manner suitable for the job.
