Job Title Senior Cisco Network Engineer Company Vaco by Highspring Location Downtown Cincinnati, OH Base Pay Range $50.00/hr - $75.00/hr Employment Type Full-time, fully onsite – 5 days a week (Monday to Friday) Seniority Level Mid‑Senior level Job Function Information Technology Industries Financial Services, Insurance Agencies and Brokerages, and Insurance Benefits Medical insurance Vision insurance 401(k) Responsibilities Design, install, maintain, and support a large‑scale enterprise network infrastructure. Architect and engineer next‑generation networking solutions. Analyze network performance data and metrics, prepare reports, and recommend improvements to meet performance and availability objectives. Stay current with networking trends to support new and evolving applications, incorporating industry standards and best practices. Interface with vendor support teams for contract renewals and ensure proper escalation during outages or degraded performance events. Participate in the implementation of disaster recovery solutions and execute periodic disaster recovery testing. Provide training and mentorship to team members on technical topics and network design. Perform Tier 3 network support for issues not resolved by Help Desk or Tier 2 teams. Perform other duties as assigned by management. Selection Criteria Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with the ability to quickly learn and apply new concepts. Ability to manage multiple deadlines while working with minimal supervision. Demonstrated ability to gather, analyze, and translate customer requirements into effective technical solutions. Strong written and verbal communication skills, including technical documentation. Calm, professional demeanor when handling high‑pressure or demanding situations. Proven ability to complete tasks accurately and on time, with examples of project planning, execution, and end‑to‑end delivery. Education & Certification Requirements Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or equivalent relevant experience. Cisco CCNA or CCNP certification preferred. Desired Skills & Experience Proven experience supporting large enterprise network environments using Cisco Catalyst and Nexus platforms. Experience installing, configuring, and troubleshooting VPN and/or SASE solutions (preferred). Experience installing, configuring, and troubleshooting firewalls; Check Point experience is a plus. Knowledge of Software‑Defined Networking and/or cloud‑based networking environments. Experience with Cisco Catalyst Center. Experience with Cisco security solutions such as Identity Services Engine (ISE). Experience with Juniper Mist wireless technologies. Strong understanding of network flow analysis tools. Strong knowledge of routing protocols including OSPF, BGP, EIGRP, OMP, and/or MPLS. Familiarity with VMware vCenter, ESXi 7.x, and Cisco Unified Computing Systems (UCS) is a plus. Position Demands Extended hours may be required during peak workloads or special projects. Ability to provide off‑hours support as needed, either remotely or on‑site. Occasional travel (less than 10%) to support remote locations, training, or technology conferences. Additional Information No 2‑C or 3rd party solicitations.
