Radiographer LPCT LSBS3

Precision Castparts

Mission To produce radiographs to customer and PCC specifications for evaluation of castings. Principal Accountabilities Set up castings for radiography. Check routing or requests to determine x‑ray needs on parts. Review Technique Cards to determine setup requirements, including x‑ray techniques, part positions and Film/IP requirements based on Technique Cards. Set up additional radiographs of defect areas not covered by Technique Cards. Inspect condition and maintain Film/IP and cassettes. Follow proper handling techniques. Set up castings on tables in x‑ray machines including fixturing, placement of Film/IPs, DICOM tag identification, and penetrator parameters; set exposure parameters. Determine priority of radiographs to be taken. Develop best‑practice setup requirements for newly developed techniques when needed. Visually inspect castings for dirt, penetrant, grinding debris, etc. Operate x‑ray machine control panels to take multiple views of castings, adjusting radiographic variables such as tube height, voltage and exposure times within customer specifications. Monitor, maintain, and generate exposures for System Qualifications on X‑ray equipment per customer and PCC specifications. Conduct more than one radiographic examination concurrently and be able to operate all machines. Remove Film/IP from casting for image processing while maintaining proper handling techniques. After image processing, check samples of radiographs on each casting for artifacts, clarity, coverage, pixel value and sensitivity; make changes within customer and PCC specifications; record changes; reshoot exposure when needed. Willingness to be audited without notice by all auditors such as PCC NDTE, NADCAP, ISO 9000. Train, mentor, and assist less skilled radiographers with setup and operational techniques as needed. Complete logs and records, and record modifications to Technique Card specifications. Meet all production and quality standards. Adhere to plant and department safety rules. Safely operate all equipment and tools. Identify and report safety problems. Perform other tasks as directed and other X‑ray department activities. Radiography Level 1 Courses must be completed (radiation safety, digital method training, etc.). Radiographer Level 1 Certification must be completed for all modalities (Film, CR, DDA). Must recertify Level 1 every five years. Qualifications Radiography skills as demonstrated by competent performance of all duties OR an equivalent combination of classroom training and work experience. High school graduation or GED (necessary for NDT Certification). Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division). Ability to read, follow and interpret Technique Cards, Quality Control Manuals and other technical specifications. Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
