Laboratory Technologist (MLT or MT)

The Laboratory Technologist (MLT or MT) performs laboratory testing, reports results accurately to support diagnosis and treatment, and assists in laboratory operations under the supervision of the Laboratory Manager. This role requires independent judgment, professional education, and national certification, with ongoing contributions to quality assurance and safety protocols.

Responsibilities:

• Conduct complex tests across various laboratory disciplines including hematology, immunology, bacteriology, microscopy, and chemistry following established protocols.
• Perform phlebotomy procedures, including arterial, capillary, and venous draws, adhering to age-specific and safety criteria.
• Calibrate, standardize, and maintain laboratory instruments, troubleshoot issues, and perform quality control measures.
• Prepare, validate, and report laboratory test results in a timely and accurate manner, ensuring compliance with all regulatory standards.
• Assist with the development and maintenance of laboratory policies, procedures, and safety protocols.
• Contribute to staff training, orientation, and the development of laboratory staff, students, and new employees.

Qualifications:

• Hold an associate's or bachelor's degree in Medical Technology or a related field from an accredited institution.
• Certification or registry eligibility as a Medical Technologist or Medical Laboratory Technician per certification agencies (AMT or ASCP).
• Possess knowledge of laboratory principles, techniques, equipment, and safety procedures.
• Demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds frequently, maintain visual acuity, and perform fine motor tasks with manual dexterity.
• Able to work effectively in limited space, handle interruptions, and adapt to temperature and noise variations in the lab environment.
