3 days ago Be among the first 25 applicants Direct message the job poster from Seneca Resources "Associate Team Lead | Talent Acquisition Expert | Connecting Top Talent with Innovative Companies Position Title: Civil Engineer Position Status: Open Terms: Direct Hire Position Description: Bath County Power Station, a pumped storage hydro station, in (Warm Springs VA) seeks a candidate for an experienced Engineer, Senior Engineer, Staff Engineer (Civil/Geotechnical) to take a lead role responsible for all engineering and geotechnical aspects of the station geotechnical program providing technical expertise to ensure the day-to-day operation, monitoring and maintenance of high-pressure tunnels, drainage tunnels, dam safety monitoring, civil structure site assessment, and maintenance and repair is performed at the highest standard. As a senior team member, the incumbent will provide guidance and training to Bath team members. Core responsibilities include but are not limited to: Overseeing and performing data collection and analysis; developing instrumentation and equipment specifications; performing civil structure, tunnel and dam safety inspections; regulatory reporting; reviewing emergency action plans; developing maintenance and repair plans; performing slope stability analyses for cut slopes, embankment slopes, and sediment pond slopes, using hand and computer methods; acting as subject matter expert for station management and other groups in the areas of civil/geotechnical engineering and dam safety; providing engineering support to station operations and maintenance personnel; and performing other duties as assigned. This posting is for one position, which will be filled at the level (Engineer, Senior Engineer, Staff Engineer) commensurate with the successful candidate's experience and skill level. Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience The knowledge, skills, abilities and experience required for entry into this job include the following: 2+ years of relevant engineering experience Knowledge and application of engineering theories, principles, concepts, and fundamentals Developmental experience in a professional engineering position Competency in applying engineering principles, fundamental concepts, practices, and procedures Understanding and application of configuration management Planning, organizational, and project management skills Ability to develop and exercise leadership skills Knowledge and proficiency in the use of computer software to assist in preparation of reports, presentations, database development and data review Must be able to analyze problems and provide solutions (demonstrated results) Must be able to work safely in a plant environment including confined spaces, around water, at elevated heights, and in underground tunnels Good written and oral communication skills (includes technical writing) Knowledge or experience with FERC regulated dams or dam safety Knowledge of principles of hydrogeology Knowledge of business/financial and contractual matters Ability to perform significant amount of fieldwork outdoors in a rugged environment and to do so independently Must have a valid driver’s license . 5+ years of relevant engineering experiences Full knowledge of engineering theories and principles Skilled in advanced techniques and modification of theories, precepts, and practices Strong leadership skills with proven ability to serve as team project lead In-depth knowledge of various computer applications, with the ability to perform engineering calculations using applicable software programs Strong planning, organizational, and project management skills Knowledge and proficiency in the use of computer software to assist in preparation of reports, presentations, database development and data review Must be able to analyze problems and provide solutions (demonstrated results) Must be able to work safely in a plant environment including confined spaces, around water, at elevated heights, and in underground tunnels Strong written and oral communication skills (includes technical writing) Knowledge of principles of hydrogeology Knowledge or experience with FERC regulated dams or dam safety Knowledge of business/financial and contractual matters Ability to perform significant amount of fieldwork outdoors in a rugged environment and to do so independently Must have a valid driver’s license 8+ years if relevant engineering experience Extensive knowledge of engineering theories, principles, and practices Skilled in advanced techniques and modification of theories, precepts, and practices Full knowledge of business/financial and contractual matters Recognized expert by other engineers and management in assigned area Provides expert technical advice to other engineers and management Strong planning and project management skills Strong technical and organizational leadership skills Strong knowledge and proficiency in the use of computer software to assist in preparation of reports, presentations, database development and data review Must be able to analyze complex problems and provide solutions (demonstrated results) Must be able to work safely in a plant environment including confined spaces, around water, in a boat, at elevated heights, and in underground tunnels Strong written and oral communication skills (includes technical writing) Extensive knowledge or experience with FERC regulated dams or dam safety Ability to perform significant amount of fieldwork outdoors in a rugged environment and to do so independently Must have a valid driver’s license Education Requirements Minimum of bachelor's degree in engineering (engineering technology degrees are not acceptable for this position). Strongly prefer: Civil Engineering degree with a Geotechnical, Hydrology/Hydraulics and/or Dam Engineering focus. We prefer (not required) a current valid Professional Engineer license and the ability to obtain the PE license by reciprocity in Virginia and in other states in which Dominion does business.

REQUIRED ENGINEERING CRITERIA:

For placement of a candidate in the Engineer job series, the following criteria must be met: Possess a 4-year engineering degree from an ABET accredited engineering program based on the year that the engineering program was accredited by ABET, or Possess a 4-year engineering degree from an institution outside of the U.S. which is accredited through the country's own engineering accrediting body under the Washington Accord as a full signatory, and is a degree that was recognized by the country's accrediting body on or after the date that full signatory status was achieved, or Possess a 4-year engineering degree from a non-ABET accredited program and a post-graduate engineering degree from an institution where the undergraduate degree in the same engineering discipline is ABET accredited based on the year the engineering program was accredited by ABET, or Possess a 4-year degree in Physics, Chemistry, Math or Engineering Technology and a post-graduate engineering degree from an institution where the undergraduate degree in the same engineering discipline is ABET accredited based on the year the engineering program was accredited by ABET Licenses, Certifications, or Quals Description Working Conditions Dust / Grease / Oil Up to 25% Energized Wires Up to 25% Fumes Up to 25% Heat Up to 25% Loud Noise Up to 25% Operating Machinery Up to 25% Travel Up to 25% Confined Spaces 26-50% Cold Up to 25% Pressurized Lines & Valves Up to 25% Other Working Conditions Must be able to work safely in a plant environment including confined spaces, around water, at elevated heights, and in underground tunnels.
