About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse - PACU Profession: Nursing Specialty: PACU Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Evening Shift Hours per Shift: 8 hours Experience: Minimum of 2 years Phase I/Phase II PACU experience preferred. License: Active RN License required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS required. Preferred: CAPA or CPAN certification. Must-Have: Experience in PACU with a variety of patient types including inpatient, outpatient, and observations. Ability to read and interpret cardiac rhythms. Experience managing cardiac drips and providing discharge instructions. Experience recovering post-cath, bronchs, and IR patients highly preferred. Description: This role involves working in a Level II Trauma Center with designated PACU areas. The PACU consists of multiple pre/post rooms and Phase I bays. The facility typically manages a high volume of patients daily. You will be responsible for the recovery of both pediatric and adult patients. Common diagnoses include general, plastics, urology, GI, bariatrics, GYN, neurosurgery, and more. Patient ratios are 1:3 for pre-op, 1:2 for Phase I, and 1:3 for Phase II recovery. Responsibilities include floating between Phase I and Phase II Recovery. Team members include charge nurses and support staff to assist as needed. You will utilize EMR systems and various medical equipment in your practice. It is essential to have strong communication and collaborative skills. Support within the department is provided by management, RTs, and anesthesiology staff. Professional appearance is required, with scrubs in solid colors without logos or graphics. Availability for schedule adjustments and adherence to staffing guidelines is expected.
