Keep Customers Happy. Keep Growing. AJ Transport is looking for an organized, dependable Dispatcher to run the daily flow of freight in our South Boston, VA operation. If you thrive in a fast-paced environment, love solving problems on the fly, and know how to keep drivers, customers, and operations all moving in sync — this is your seat. As the hub connecting customers, drivers, maintenance, and operations, you'll play a direct role in getting every load delivered safely, efficiently, and on time. What You'll Do Receive and schedule customer load requests Enter and manage loads in the dispatch system Assign loads to drivers based on location, equipment, hours of service, and efficiency Stay in constant communication with drivers on assignments, route changes, delays, and customer requirements Coordinate with Maintenance on equipment issues, breakdowns, and repairs Keep customers updated on load status, delays, and scheduling changes Troubleshoot day‑to‑day operational issues while delivering top‑notch customer service Track driver availability and equipment utilization Maintain accurate dispatch records and documentation Collaborate closely with Operations, Safety, and Maintenance to keep daily operations running smoothly What You Bring High school diploma or equivalent required Dispatch, trucking, logistics, or transportation experience — required Bonus points for experience dispatching dump trucks, dump trailers, pneumatic bulk trailers, tank trailers, or hazmat loads Working knowledge of DOT and FMCSA regulations — required Strong verbal, written, and computer skills Sharp organizational, multitasking, and problem‑solving abilities A calm head and sound judgment under pressure Excellent customer service instincts and attention to detail Bonus Experience We'd Love to See Background serving asphalt plants, power generation facilities, concrete plants, bulk LP facilities, or construction/industrial operations Familiarity with transporting liquid asphalt, LP gas, butane, or other hazardous materials Why AJ Transport?
