Roadtex Logistics

Roadtex Transportation has become a leader in the nationwide LTL industry, specializing in transporting time and temperature-sensitive products. We handle refrigerated and LTL needs by leveraging no sailing schedules, our nationwide network of 32 strategically placed temperature-controlled facilities, our state-of-the-art tracking, and our specialized equipment and warehousing capabilities. In 2022, Roadtex was acquired by Echo Global Logistics. The acquisition brings a truckload brokerage and expanded transportation management solutions to Roadtex's customers while providing Echo with our national warehouse footprint and advanced temperature-controlled transportation solutions.

POSITION SUMMARY

The EHS Manager leads the development and execution of a scalable environmental, health and safety management system across Roadtex Warehouse Services' ambient and temperature-controlled, food-grade warehouse facilities. This is a hands-on, multi-site warehouse general-industry safety role responsible for establishing standards, strengthening leadership accountability, reducing operational risk, and maintaining regulatory compliance.

The ideal candidate has direct warehouse or distribution EHS experience, true multi-site ownership, and a demonstrated track record of building or materially improving safety programs. Fleet, DOT, and driver safety are managed separately and are not the primary focus of this position.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Develop and execute the Warehouse Services EHS strategy, annual plan, policies, standards, procedures, audits, and corrective-action processes.

Build, standardize, and continuously improve EHS programs across multiple facilities, partnering with site leaders who remain accountable for daily execution.

Lead site and network risk assessments covering powered industrial trucks, pedestrian interaction, docks and trailers, racking and storage, material handling, ergonomics, battery charging, machinery, contractors, and facility conditions.

Maintain applicable federal, state, and local EHS programs, records, postings, and regulatory reporting, including OSHA recordkeeping across multiple establishments.

Develop and govern controls for high-risk activities including lockout/tagout, hazard communication, electrical safety, fall protection, hot work, contractor safety, and emergency response.

Deliver and oversee EHS training for leaders, employees, temporary labor, and contractors, including powered industrial truck training and authorization standards.

Lead incident, injury, near-miss, and property-damage investigations; identify root causes and ensure corrective actions are completed and effective.

Coach Operations leaders and frontline teams on hazard recognition, inspections, safe-work expectations, and accountability.

Partner with Human Resources and Operations on workers' compensation, medical management, transitional duty, and return-to-work practices.

Maintain EHS performance reporting, site reviews, audits, and leading/lagging indicators; use trends to reduce recurring risk and total cost of risk.

Support property-risk, environmental compliance, loss-prevention, and emergency-preparedness programs, including rack integrity, fire protection, waste and chemical management, spill prevention, and severe-weather response.

Integrate EHS requirements into new facilities, equipment, automation, expansions, and process changes; exercise stop-work authority when an imminent or serious risk exists.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required

Five or more years of progressive EHS experience.

At least two years of true multi-site EHS responsibility supporting three or more facilities at the same time.

Direct safety experience in warehousing, distribution, fulfillment, 3PL, foodservice distribution, cold chain, or a comparable material-handling-intensive environment.

Demonstrated experience creating, writing, standardizing, or materially improving EHS programs - not solely administering an established corporate program.

Working knowledge of OSHA general-industry requirements and hands-on experience with powered industrial trucks, docks, racking, material handling, ergonomics, incident investigation, corrective actions, and emergency response.

Ability to influence Operations leaders and frontline teams while operating as a hands-on individual-contributor leader.

Strong analytical, communication, training, and influencing skills; valid driver's license and ability to meet travel requirements.

Bachelor's degree in occupational safety, environmental health, engineering, or a related field preferred; substantial directly relevant experience may be considered in place of a degree.

Preferred

Experience in food-grade or temperature-controlled warehousing, cold chain, fulfillment, repack, or co-packing operations.

Cal/OSHA experience, including Injury and Illness Prevention Program administration.

Experience governing temporary or contingent labor safety and staffing-agency requirements.

Experience with workers' compensation, insurance loss control, rack integrity, fire protection, automation, facility expansion, EHS technology, or performance dashboards.

CSP, ASP, CIH, CHST, or similar certification; OSHA 30-hour, OSHA 511, or OSHA 501 coursework. Spanish-language capability is valued.

TRAVEL

Approximately 10% to 20% travel between campuses or satellite facilities, including occasional overnight travel. Response to significant events outside normal business hours may be required.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT

Works in office and active warehouse environments with regular walking and standing, required personal protective equipment, material-handling equipment, noise, and varying temperatures. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable qualified individuals to perform the essential functions.
