Restaurant General Manager

Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and driven General Manager to oversee all aspects of restaurant operations in a fast-paced, fine dining environment. The ideal candidate brings a strong background in hospitality, with experience in Japanese cuisine and a passion for delivering exceptional guest experiences. This role requires a hands-on leader who can manage daily operations, inspire a high-performing team, and uphold the highest standards of service, food quality, and operational excellence. Proficiency with Toast POS and OpenTable is essential.

Duties

• Oversee all aspects of daily restaurant operations, including front and back of house service, food preparation, and guest experience
• Lead and manage staff, ensuring a culture of professionalism, accountability, and hospitality
• Supervise shift operations to maintain efficient workflow and exceptional service standards
• Manage inventory, ordering, and cost controls using MarketMan to maintain optimal stock and profitability
• Ensure compliance with all food safety standards, health regulations, and sanitation practices
• Oversee cash handling, financial reporting, and POS transactions using Toast
• Manage reservations, guest flow, and seating strategies through OpenTable
• Collaborate closely with culinary leadership to maintain consistency in food quality and presentation, with an emphasis on Japanese cuisine
• Recruit, train, and develop team members, conducting performance evaluations and ongoing coaching
• Implement and support marketing and guest engagement initiatives to drive traffic and retention
• Manage budgets, labor costs, and overall financial performance to meet business goals
• Address guest feedback and concerns promptly, maintaining a high level of service recovery

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a General Manager or senior leadership role in a fine dining restaurant
• Strong knowledge of Japanese cuisine and dining culture preferred
• Hands-on experience with Toast POS and OpenTable reservation platform required
• Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to build, train, and retain high-performing teams
• Strong understanding of front and back of house operations, including kitchen workflows
• Experience with inventory management systems such as MarketMan
• Solid financial acumen, including budgeting, cost control, and reporting
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a strong guest-first mindset
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-expectation environment
• Must be available to work nights, weekends, and holidays
• Background in hospitality management, upscale dining, or omakase-style service is a plus
