Extended Daycare Staff (Mornings OR Afternoons)

Description School Name: St. Rose of Lima School Location: 278 Alvarado St, Chula Vista, CA 91910 Reports to: Principal Employment Type: Part time (6:30am - 8:00am OR 2:30pm - 6:00pm) FLSA Status: Non - Exempt Pay Rate: $19.00 per hour Under the direction of the Principal, the Extended Daycare Staff is responsible for coordinating before and after school activities, games, crafts, and homework for K-8 students. Responsibilities (to include but not limited to) Assist students, individually or in small groups with homework assignments. Monitor individual and/or group activities in a variety of settings. Communicate with the parents through daily drop off and pick up. Maintain a safe environment for students. Follow and enforce all safety policies. Assist with student check-in/out. Perform other jobs/tasks/duties deemed necessary for a smooth functioning program as assigned by the principal. Keep the room neat and orderly. Report any incidents and behavioral problems to the principal. Requirements Religious Qualifications Active, practicing Roman Catholic (required) Respects and understands a Catholic school philosophy Professional Qualifications Must have experience working with elementary school age children. Be a self-starter and perform the job with little supervision. Possess or attain CPR/AED/First Aid certification. Ability to understand and follow specific instructions and procedures. Proactive response to any issues and concerns that may arise. Ability to multitask and cope with a stressful environment. Physical Requirements To successfully meet the needs of the students in his/her care, the worker must: Spend the majority of the day standing in the classroom. While standing the worker will frequently hold objects they are working with or demonstrating Sit on an occasional basis Walk through the classroom and be able to maneuver in tight spaces between desks. Walk on both even and uneven surfaces Deal with students while kneeling or squatting, stooping, or bending Reach at, below, or above shoulder height with the dominant upper extremity; may require trunk or neck rotation to look back at the class Assist in moving children's desks and chairs to change the layout of the classroom to influence the learning situation. It is occasionally necessary to lift and carry boxes weighing up to 25 pounds from the office to classrooms While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to be inside the classroom. The employee is required to be mobile to, from, and within the classroom and school environment, as well as maneuver throughout the school facility to attend meetings, trainings, and other work-related events. The employee may be required to conduct trips to, from, and within various city and county-wide locations to attend trainings or workshops, and/or field trips.
