PCA/ Nurse Assistant - Bone Marrow Transplant - Green Hospital - Nights (Casual)

Located on the Torrey Pines Mesa near I-5 and Genesee Avenue in La Jolla, Scripps Green Hospital has served the greater San Diego community since 1977. We provide some of the region’s best care, including several nationally ranked specialty programs.

Scripps Green Hospital is attached to Scripps Clinic Torrey Pines. Together we offer dozens of medical and surgical services, including cancer care, orthopedic surgery and organ transplantation.

This is a casual/per diem position working 12-hour night shifts and located at Scripps Green Hospital in Torrey Pines.

The ideal candidate will be someone who demonstrates a high level of compassion for their patients, and a strong desire to develop relationships and create connections. Working in our Bone Marrow Transplant department, you will assist with daily patient care, routinely checking vital signs, and ambulating patients. A high level of attention to infection control will be key as all patients are immune-suppressed. On this 24 bed unit, the department will see an average of 15 18 patients while the Patient Care Assistant will be assigned to an average of 8 patients per day.

• Providing excellent service to patients as a key member of the clinical care team.
• Assisting patients with personal needs and activities of daily living, collects data, and ensures the patient has a safe, organized environment.
• Assists with patient care within the scope permitted and under the direction of a clinician.
• Supporting the unit with a variety of patient logistic, clerical, equipment/supply, and charge reconciliation duties

Required Education/Experience/Specialized Skills:

• One year of recent experience working under the license of an licensed healthcare provider OR current enrollment or completion of Nursing Assistant training from a recognized school OR current enrollment in an RN program with completion of the second semester, including nursing fundamentals
• Must be able to speak, read and follow instruction in English
• Excellent interpersonal skills with a service aptitude
• American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) for Health Care Provider

Preferred Education/Experience/Specialized Skills/Certification:

• CNA certification
• Multiple patient care skills preferred
• Preferred one year acute care experience
