Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Robotics and Controls Engineer with a strong combination of mechanical engineering, robotics, controls, and automation expertise. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience designing automated workcells and EOAT, programming 6-axis industrial robots, developing PLC/HMI applications, integrating machine vision systems, and performing automation safety assessments.

The role requires a highly analytical engineer who can bridge mechanical design and advanced control logic to develop reliable, safe, and high-performance automated manufacturing systems. The core requirements align with publicly posted versions of this Delavan, WI role.

Key Responsibilities

• Design custom automation cells, fixtures, and end-of-arm tooling (EOAT) using SolidWorks .
• Apply GD&T and ASME Y14.5 principles to mechanical designs.
• Perform robot reachability, payload, center-of-gravity, joint torque, and moment-of-inertia analysis.
• Design, program, debug, and optimize complex robotic workcells.
• Program and optimize 6-axis industrial robots , including FANUC, ABB, or KUKA.
• Develop and troubleshoot PLC and HMI programs using digital and analog I/O.
• Design, interpret, and troubleshoot electrical schematics and industrial control prints.
• Integrate and calibrate machine vision systems such as Cognex and Keyence .
• Develop robotic vision-guidance, inspection, and part-location applications.
• Conduct automation risk assessments and safety analyses.
• Integrate safety PLCs, light curtains, guarding, and fail-safe mechanisms.
• Ensure automation systems comply with applicable machinery safety standards.
• Support powertrain fixture design and manufacturing automation projects.
• Apply Lean Manufacturing methodologies including 5S, Kaizen, and Value Stream Mapping .
• Troubleshoot automation systems and optimize cycle time, reliability, and throughput.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline .
• Successful completion of the FE (Fundamentals of Engineering) examination .
• 5 7 years of relevant engineering experience .
• Strong proficiency in SolidWorks 2020 and AutoCAD .
• Strong understanding of GD&T / ASME Y14.5 .
• Experience with powertrain fixture design .
• Advanced PLC/HMI programming experience.
• Strong understanding of electrical schematics and industrial controls.
• Expert-level experience programming 6-axis industrial robots such as FANUC, ABB, or KUKA.
• Experience with integrated machine vision platforms such as Cognex or Keyence .
• Experience with automation risk assessments and safety systems.
• Knowledge of ISO 13849, ANSI B11.19, ANSI/RIA R15.06, and ISO 10218 .
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving abilities.
