Certified Outpatient Medical Coder

To support optimal reimbursement and compliance, the full-time remote Certified Outpatient Medical Coder will review clinical documentation and assign accurate CPT, ICD-10-CM, and HCPCS codes for diagnoses, procedures, and services rendered while collaborating with clinical teams to improve documentation practices. Key responsibilities Monitor outpatient coding work queues and unbilled accounts to ensure timely claims submission Review patient medical records to assign and sequence codes according to industry-standard guidelines Collaborate with providers to clarify documentation and ensure coding accuracy based on organizational policy Required qualifications High School Diploma or GED required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in health information management or related field preferred Active Certified Professional Coder (CPC) preferred, Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), or equivalent credential required Minimum of 3-5 years of medical coding experience in an outpatient or specialty setting Strong understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology Proficient with EHR and coding software (e.g., 3M, EncoderPro, Epic, Cerner)
